    Play time

I'm unsure if i'm in the right section or not - sorry but i couldn't find anywhere else.

My son seems so bored with his toys! What kind of games can we play? He's not walking fully yet and doesn't have many words. Outside play is a no at the moment until temporary fencing is done.

He has an extremely short attention span so finding sooo many things to do a day is hard!!!

    please help

You could try involving him in everday household stuff like cooking and cleaning. My DS loves that sort of thing. They love being involved with mum and get to play with all sorts of neat stuff that mum uses (like cooking implements, brooms, etc)

What about some water play, fill up a large mixing bowl and give him a couple of smaller cups and a stirring spoon. Bubbles are always fun, or you could make some playdough? Painting or chalk? Playing with some balls, rolling back and forth inside.

I try to plan one or two things for each play period (eg, between breakfast and morning tea, between morning tea and lunch, between sleep time and dinner) and the rest of the time i encourage the kids to play on their own and entertain themselves (sometimes easier said then done!).

what about setting up a sort of obstacle course/cubby in the living room? put a blanket over some chairs & some toys (or tupperware containers if your DS is like mine ) and he can crawl through or even just sit there.

does he like books? we have a pile of books & half the time i don't actually read them to DS he just flicks through them & points to things which i take is a cue for me to name them.

do you have a local library that does storytime? or a local park? if the weather was nice i used to let DS just crawl round the park or push him on swings.

we used to sit outside on a blanket (in the garden but could be in a park) and he'd play with some toys. or i'd walk round the garden with him & name things & let him touch leaves or bark.
