    sleep question

My 10 mth old was a fantastic sleeper up untill a few months ago. but it's lately i am absolutely exhausted. he just got 2 teeth a few weeks ago and is now waking at least once during the night about 2 am then again at 5-6am. last night was 12am also. it's really exhausting with a full time job and doing this on my own with my partner away and i was hoping he would be sleeping by now. i have been giving him about 100ml of a bottle and he falls back asleep. but i read that a lot of people try crying it out. should i be CIO at his age. and if i do will it lessen every night till he sleeps through? or have i accepted it's just a phase and he'll get there one day

    any advice is appreciated..cheers

    Hi
It's often about this age that things can go a bit awry, and it's only worse if they're teething or learning new skills (crawling, walking by any chance?).
I think you should only cio if that's what you've decided will be best for you and your DS, at whatever age that may be.

Personally, I'd ride it out. At that age DS was teething and waking at least 5-6 times. Once those teeth finished at 11 months, things were heaps better. I was working too, so really do understand how hard it is. Can you get a bit of catchup sleep on the weekend at least? Do you cosleep at all - that's the only way I was able to survive. Oh, and if it's teething that's distrupting sleep, you might want to try an amber teething necklace. I wish I had gotten one when he first started teething...it has helped sooooo much.

    all the best

    thank-you,
yeh he is teething with his first 2 teeth at the moment but waking up has been going on for a while now. i am happy to be riding it out at the moment cause a small bottle is usually enough for him to fall back asleep, i don't co-sleep with him, he is great at falling asleep on his own in his cot, it's just the staying asleep... i suppose it's a bit of jealousy on my behalf when people tell me their babies have been sleeping through since they we're little... but i'll see how we go in the meantime. if he's only just got his first 2 teeth i may be in for this for a while yet.
