Its my DSD's 12th birthday in a month's time and her party is going to be at our place.
So far for her food and drinks we have:
Home made sausage rolls
fruit skewers and choclate foundue
Fairy cup cakes
mini hotdogs
chicken salad rolls
home made lemonade
home made fruit squash
S wants it to be healthy, but so that those that eat crap will also enjoy it. There will be kids ranging from about 3 to 14 at her party and it is a lunch time party with singstar.
Does anyone have any receipe suggestions or ideas on what else we can do. trying to keep costs down if possible and make stuff. I am making her cake.
Ummm don't know if your kids like it but my 7 year old daughter loves sushi. I make my own and a little goes a long way as it is filling. Just make sure u use sushi rice which if you have a rice cooker cooks just like normal rice and for a cheap filling u can use tinned flavoured tuna(smoked or sweet chilli) with avocado or cream cheese.
Or as an alternative rice paper rolls which are little spring rolls without the deep frying. Tried these on my daughter this week and she inhaled them. Just google them....they are simple to make.
Otherwise jelly cups, mini quiches, savoury popcorn(heaps of flavours, once again do a google search). I just finished making some savoury cheese biscuits which is just shortcrust pastry with grated cheese rolled through then cut into shapes with a biccie cutter. Takes 10mins in the oven.
Home made hot chips, not the one's you buy from the supermarket.
I make them for my kids and they love them.
How about some home made dip and biscuits...alot of kids like hummus.
Pinwheels (flakey pastry with salami or ham, cheese rollled, then cut and baked).
A fruit platter always goes down well as well.
lollylegs has given some great suggestions.
