Definitely the balls - they are true hundreds and thousands!
I'm not a big fan of the long ones

    They aren't 100s & 1000s if they aren't balls.

    And it isn't Fairy Bread without 100s & 1000s.

    Ergo....

PS What is this option "Any will do"? That is crazy talk.

Long ones without a doubt. Agree they're dollar 5s not 100s and 1000s but they are sooooo much better. Balls are for cupcakes.

Of course, if you're really going to take this seriously you'd throw into the mix those combined chocolate and vanilla mixed "shapes" you can buy. They are way too good for kids' party food but everyone needs some fine dining fairy bread at times.

DH has never eaten fairy bread. He said it looks unappetising?!

I may have to re-evaluate our relationship.....

    To me Sprinkles are dashes.

    100's & 1000's are dots.

That's what I've always known, and in baking books that's what it is too.

I have family (from the US) who had never had it before coming to Aus. It's pretty much an aussie/nz thing.

    Balls.
    Unquestionably.

    But DH says Logs.
If I ask him to buy sprinkles he gets them, so I have learned to specify '100s & 1000s'.
I can definitely see the appeal of logs with their softness instead of crunch, but, BALLS it is.

I do believe the real question is - butter, marg or condensed milk? What to you use to sprinkle your 100's & 1000's on?

And .., crust or no crust?

    Balls. Definitely balls.

That said, I wouldn't say no to any with sprinkles.
