How to tell if your cat is at the end?

Like the title suggests

My miss Ollie cat is 15 (16 in oct) She went to the vet 3 weeks ago as she had a lump on her lip and was generally unwell. A shot of cortisone and AB's fixed her up. Friday she went back for a recheck. This time she hid from us which was super weird but apparently normal..

Vet gave her more cortisone. Since then she has gone down hill she isn't eating and not really drinking. It has been very cold these past 2 days. (cold for CQ)

Normally in winter she would have her sister to cuddle up to but Missy passed away in Oct last year. Her breathing is normal and she still purrs but she is stiff and looks miserable

I don't want to take her back to the vets as I think this last trip pushed her over the edge a little. She was not impressed at all with me

So if you had an old cat what did they do in the days or weeks leading up to them passing away?

Sorry to hear your cat is not well We lost our old girl in Feb at age 18.

With Boo she just suddenly looked old. She was always very vain and kept herself nice but she just looked very unkempt and frail, was literally in the space of a day or two. We knew it was the end, just a feeling we had, you know a pet when you've had them that long of course. She also hid under the bed and when we coaxed her out she didn't want to be touched. I wrote a thread on her at the time but we had to make that hard decision to let her go a few days following.

I just lost my cat, he was young but had a chronic illness, and in the last few days he stopped eating, didn't clean himself ( his sister did it for him, bless), hardly moved except to sit by the heater and wouldn't even sit on our laps He also smelt really 'toxic' but that ws his kidney failure.

I think if you are asking the question you know the answer, esp if she isn't eating or drinking, apparently cats can't go for very long without eating. Our boy hated the vets so our vet kindly came to our house and put him to sleep, it was very gentle. they also sent flowers and a card to our house the next day, i couldn't be more impressed.

Good luck with a difficult decision, not matter what you do, you will feel guilty but its for the best if they are unhappy and in pain

i dont think she is in any pain but she is miserable will watch her over night and then see what dh says i dont want her to go downhill drastically and be in pain
