I have fallen in LOVE with a british short hair kitten and am considering getting it

does anyone have any experience with the breed and can tell me anything about them? i have googled them of course, and they sound like they're great with kids and their temperament sounds like exactly what i'm after but was looking for some personal experiences as i've never met one in person. TIA
