My poor Benny boy got attacked

We have been dog sitting for a friend for the last few days and this evening, just before the other dog was about to be picked up she snapped and lashed out at our dog, grabbing him by the scruff of the neck (they are both Greyhounds).

DP had to almost strangle her to get her to let go and our poor old boy sustained some massive punctures to his neck. He was taken off to hospital where he is now sedated, awaiting surgery tomorrow

I am hoping he will come through all ok as he is 10yo and the punctures were quite near some major arteries.

Oh no!!! Benny! Oh I hope he is okay! I know it's irrational, but I'm angry at that other dog

Oh no, hope he gets through ok. They become such a big part of your family.

The owners came and picked the other dog up about 2 hours after it happened. They were mortified! It turns out their dogs has some wounds on her leg - Benny was probably trying to claw her off him

Well he is stable and on the waiting list for surgery - hopefully they will get to him today. He is apparently very quiet and subdued but he is on pain relief and antibiotics.
