We just got back from a long weekend away and whilst away my mil has been feeding the animals for us.
We got back last night, and this morning she rings to tell us the people in the house across the road came up to her and made a complaint about our dog's barking.
Then just now the neighbours came across to inform us of this barking.
Apparently she barks whenever we leave the house, the whole time we are gone. Now they havent documented any of this, called the ranger, called us (they do have our number, all our numbers do). The girls and I live in the front yard almost every day and I am home almost every day, all day besides school drop off and pick up (yep I have an exciting social life), the neighbours come and go and I chat to almost every single one of them, and no one complains about the dog, they never mention her barking.
Because I have no evidence to say whether she has been barking or not, Im not prepared to say whether she is innocent or guilty. The neighbour suggested that our only option would be to put her down There is no way I am going to put down a perfectly healthy, albeit old dog. I know our girl is losing some of sight and teeth, I know she is a little more flighty then before but nothing that would suggest that she barks all day.
We feed her in the mornings before school drop off, she gets lunch and dinner too. We play with her, I walk her as often as I can, but honestly a play in the yard is enough for her these days.
Dh is yet to talk to the other neighbours about it. I plan on setting up my video camera tomorrow when we go out. And currently I am sitting inside very quietly by myself waiting to see what happens whilst we are gone.
What else should we do/could we do to work out what is happening and also how can we fix it?
