    Microlut - Pink Discharge?

    Hi ladies,

I've been on Microlut since 6 weeks or so after DS2 was born and he's now 10 months old. I'm still BF (twice a day now) and there's been no sign of AF at all (AF came back after DS1 when he was 9 months old and down to 2 or 3 BFs) DH and I haven't DTD for about a month, so when I ran out of pills I was a bit slack and didn't start the next pack on time (I think I was over 12 hours late). Then yesterday a tiny bit of brown discharge and at midnight lots of pink discharge. I assumed it was AF but there was no more bleeding.

I was hoping AF would stay away as long as possible so that I could stop taking the Microlut and TTC#3.

Any ideas anyone? I don't feel pregnant. Is it just me not taking the pill regularly enough? Could it mean I ovulated?

    TIA

I went on Microlut after all my babies.

When DS1 was about 7 months old I started getting some discharge like yours brownish in colour, really just like spotting. Anyway I decided to go off the pill thinking that as I was still breastfeeding I would be fine, welll I fell pregnant with Ds2 and have a 16 month age gap. I didn't ever get a period so I was obviously ovulating an I think the discharge must have been something to do with my cycle.

So just be careful if you are not wanting a close age gap it may be a sign that you have started to ovulate. I was OK as I was wanting around 18 months anyway so it didn't stress me too much.

Oh and with DS 3 I was on the mini pill and eventually my periods came back like normal whilst still on it so that may eventually happen, I think it was around the 6 month mark but he was a good sleeper and had dropped a few feeds by then.

I took microlut from when DS was about 6 months old until when we stopped BF at 14.5 months. I actually hadn't had AF when I started taking it but DH and I knew we were not ready for another bub yet and I was getting nervous about relying on BF alone as contraception. So I saw my GP and got a script for microlut, started taking it and within a week..... AF appeared . We were still on about 5-6 BF a day so I blame the microlut for AF. Then AF appeared every 2 weeks for a while (sometimes light, sometimes just spotting sometimes full on AF), I tried to take it at the same time every day but that is just impossible for me. I persevered with it until we stopped BF at 14.5 months and I could take the normal pill again. So in my opinion I think it's probably the microlut messing your body around a little but if you are actively ttc maybe you should take hpt to be sure. Good luck.

Thanks Megs and AJC. I guess everyone's bodies are different, aren't they? But I think it sounds like what you've suggested that it's either the Microlut or I've ovulated (no ovulation pains though). No more discharge here, so it's not enough to be called a period and I've never been a mid-cycle spotter before. I have a history of missed miscarriages (2 before DS1) so I don't want to POAS because I hate the waiting until the 12 week mark. On the other hand, I would need to know if I was preg ASAP so I could get a place in our local Birthing Centre program. The only test I've got here is a Digital, but if I was preg I'd be over 6 weeks by my calculations, so maybe it's worth using it JIC?
