Picked up my script for the mini pill today, but the pharmacist must have been in a hurry to shut up shop cause he just gave me the tablets and didn't talk me through anything, which I thought they were supposed to do? Anyway it wasn't until I got home and read the insert in the box that I actually had questions..typical..lol.
It says to start taking it on the first day of your next period...seeing as I have no idea when that is going to be, do I have to wait until that happens or can I just start taking it straight away? I thought I could just start straight away, but don't want to do the wrong thing if that is what the instructions say.
Also, before I fell pregnant I was just on the normal pill (3 weeks of active pills then 1 week of sugar pills), with the mini pill all the tablets are the same- how do I know when I will get my "period", or how does that side of it work??
I would say immediately post-partum to use the pills right away - but another form of contraception for a week as well.
There is no break in Pills with the miniPill: you are on it constantly. No sugar Pills. Your period varies from woman to woman - try and google your Pill name and it should give you a hint. With mine, some women get more bleeding but most less and 10% none at all. I seem to do 10-15 days spotting every 3-4 months on mine, but that could be that I took a pill 12 hours late once.
It also takes 3 months for your cycle to settle down completely. I remember the first 10 weeks I was spotting every day almost. Just 1-2 spots, not even worth wearing a pantyliner. Some women get more and some less. We're all different!
