    Mini pill and spotting

I had my bub via an emergency CS almost 7 weeks ago and started the mini pill two weeks ago. When I started taking the mini pill I still had a little bit of post natal spotting, but not much at all. Since going on the pill I have had a lot more spotting and it is fresh blood, so have put it down to a side affect from the pill rather than being related to the pregnancy.

Awhile back I had an Implanon which I ended up getting taken out because I had ongoing spotting (i'd spot for about 6 weeks and then only have 2 or 3 weeks without it before it started again). I believe that both the mini pill and implanon are progesterone based so am now wondering if I am likely to find the mini pill as troublesome as the implanon.

Just wondering if others have had spotting when they started the mini pill and how long it lasted for? I'd really like to have a pap smear done, but can't because of the spotting, so am wondering how long I should wait to see if the spotting stops? TIA

Hi Miss E, just wondering if you still have this problem or if you have stopped taking the mini pill? I seem to be having the same problems with spotting on the mini pill. I've been on it for about 5 weeks and have spotted on & off for most of that time. I actually thought it had stopped and I was very excited but now it has started again and I fear this may be an ongoing issue. I'm interested to know if things sorted themself out for you or if you just gave up on the mini pill.

    thanks,
    Fi

    Hi Fi,

It did sort itself out in the end, I think it might have been around the 8 or 10 week mark though. Since then I haven't had any problems and am still taking the mini pill. I'd suggest you perservere with it for a few more weeks and see how you go.
