    Yaz - new Pill?

I asked my Dr for a lower dosage Pill as I'm a high risk of breast cancer and it was recommended to me that I reduce the amount of hormone I'm taking to lower my risk of developing the big 'C'.

He gave me three months supply of a new drug called 'Yaz'. It's not yet on the PBS, so I'd have to pay extra $$ and claim a rebate through my health fund if I want to continue after that time.

It's supposed to make lighter and shorter periods and minimise other side effects.

Anyone else tried this? Any side effects? My AF started today, so I'll see how different it is (it's my first month on Yaz).

I haven't heard of "Yaz" but i used to be on a pill called "Yasmin" many moons ago (for endo) and that definitely made my periods lighter - i went from having 7 days of very heavy, painful bleeding to 4 days of light to moderate bleeding- i had to go off it for other hormonal reasons tho and haven't been back on any pill since.

I used to be on Loette (sp) I think this was the name it was a long time ago which is a half dose as the normal pill makes me a very angry lady. Not heard of "Yaz" though.

I was on Yaz at the end of last year. It sent me mental!! I mean really crazy lady stuff. I was aggressive, which I never have been before. I told a little kid at the pool that if he spat at DS again I would drown him...!!

When I told all this to the Dr he said it was too much oestogen for me and the oestrogen was sending me bonkers. I stopped taking them and was back to normal...well normal for me LOL
