I live in inner city Sydney and will soon be relocating to Brisbane. I will sadly be saying goodbye to my mothers group and local playgroup.
What i'm finding from my research so far is that things seem to work differently in Bris.
When I had my daughter the hospital automatically put me in touch with my early childhood centre who got me onto a mothers group straight away and its just the norm around here to do that.
There are also playgroups everywhere, very easy going informal gatherings that cost $2 a visit and are run from a local community centre or school and you just bring a piece of fruit along.
I can't seem to find much around like this in Brisbane. I don't want to officially sign my daughter up and be on waiting lists and set terms etc. I'm not religious either and it seems the only ones I can find in Brisbane are church run things? Does this mean you have to be a member of the church?
Hope anyone out there can shed some light on this. It seems a bit trickier in Brisbane to get set up with all of this. I'll be living as close to the city as possible, somewhere around Paddington or New Farm.
