Morning girls!
Anna - Hyde Park Medical Centre on Bayswater Rd BB children under 16. There number is 47726222. They are pretty good. I always take my girl there.
Tanya - Glad to see your back and healthy hun. Must have been a terrible time. Yeh I am not into the Nursing either thats why I went for the Mid. Its a shame I have to move to Brisbane to do it but I'm not going to put my dreams on hold any longer. I have heard through the grapevine that JCU might be bringing in Direct Entry Mid in a couple of years time...but it could be just gossip. You'll get there one day hun if its really what you want.
Kahlea - Its funny how we keep almost "running" into each other isn't it! The place we looked was on Ninth Ave which is on the otherside of the rd. But it was on the same day! So we nearly ran into each other!!! I called about a house over at Margate thismorning and the real estate is going to let us apply for it without viewing it! So happy about that. Its $355pw but we fell in love with it as soon as we saw it on the net. I would have liked to have viewed it first to make sure the pics on the net match what it looks like now but I am desperate to have something to move into when we get down there that I am not really bothered. I'll try and keep in touch with you on here and we'll have to arrange a meet up when we get down there.
Well girls we are leaving on the 9th or 10th of Feb. I want to get down there asap to get settled in before I start uni on the 16th. The girls start FDC on the 13th aswell.
I am so excited about starting the course.
So are there any meets coming up? I really want to catch up with you girls before we go!
I'm pretty sure they're working on a Nursing/Mid double degree. They were hoping to have it endorsed for 2010, but not sure if they will make that deadline. I thought about waiting too, but couldn't bear the thought of continuing with nursing when all I want to be is a Mid.:

Sara - Who did you complete your Doula certification through? I completed mine through Optimum Birth and found them to be great.
Cheers

Hiya Ladies how are we all going..
Yes im very happy to be home and healthy again and missed my kids terribly plus hospitals are quiet depressing places.
I also heard JCU is trying to bring in direct entry into midwifery, but atm im going to concentrate on photography :D, and im so peved because last year i put my name down at Tafe for a short course in photography and they rang twice while i was in hospital to say they had a spot for me but we missed the calls, so now i have to wait till June ..
Also Russell went and sore a lawyer yesterday don't really want to go into details atm as Im a bit ****ed off about it, but now i have to wait and see what happens!
On a good note im now officialy on the market lmao and ready to start meeting people, i went out last night and meet a guy id been chatting too for ages, he was really nice (a lil older then me) but he currently lives in Mackay so not sure if or when ill see him again, altho id be quiet happy as friends!
Kellie - I completed my studies through CBI. I did start with OB but when I started with Birth Buddies they prefered that I had a least done the Communication Mod through CBI. So I changed over to CBI and found that they were a lot more in depth. But that was my experience of it.
Sara, if you are free this arvo come to lollipops. I am aiming for 1 but waiting for the mechanic to finish roadworthying my old car then I have to register it and have a customer popping in to pick up some nappies, so I might be a bit late.
Hi!
It's nice to meet you all.
I am a mum of two and have been living in townsville for almost a year and a half now... I have just found this forum and thought and hope it may be a nice please to meet some new people. :)
My children are almost 3 (girl : Dakota) and almost 5 (boy: Brayden) Neither go to school or daycare as they are both born in July.
Not exactly wuiet sure how all this works, but look forward to working it all out eventually.
Hi Kirreia, Welcome to BB!! Have a quick look at the FAQ's and the forum rules and you should be fine ;)
Hi girls!
Sorry I missed you post Ali!
I have been flat out packing and stuff.
Has any plans been made for this week?
If not, how is Wednesday for everyone?
Oh and Welcome K!!! I'm not going to be a Townsville Mum for much longer but I will be back....
Im free for wednesday somewhere provided we arent all flooded in :)
I'd be happy to offer up my home (Annandale) for a get together....
Wednesday is fine for me too.
Thank you for being so warmand inviting. I think I will be just fine.
My DH and I are considering our third and well, i need to meet more people before that happens... Are you all stay at home mums?
How unreal is this weather. Reminds m of the Blue mountains where I was brought up, didn't think I would feel like that up here, that's for sure. The ground is so yukky though. My backyard is a sludge fest. The kids love it if they manage to get past me out there which has unfortunately happened once or twice... Little rascals. They don't like beig cooped up - outdoor kids. Very active :)
So our big bad cyclone petered out lol Dh was disappointed he didnt get a day off work hehe
Kirreia, Im a SAHM atleast for another year or so then I'll hopefully be at Uni (heh I say that now but with 3 under 2.5, miiiiiiiiight not happen that soon). I live out at Bushland Beach.
Kellie, its nice of you to offer up your house for the meet. Are you brave enough to have a ton of toddlers destroying it though
Anna - no different to the 3 I have here who are all little Tropical Cyclones in their own right LOL
Kirreia - I'm a SAHM, Student Midwife and I also work 2 late shifts per week at the hospital - I'm at Annandale, which is over near Lavarack baracks on the river.
Morning girls!
Well I am a tad pi$$ed at the BOM thismorning. They got it so wrong! I hope everyone was prepared in Mission Beach! I don't even think they were in the warning area.
Its like a cyclone up the range today anyways. Our driveway is nearly all washed away. So we can only drive the 4WD up it now. Its going to be LOTS of fun ferrying all the furniture up to the removal truck on friday! Fingers crossed the rains gone.
Well I am happy to have it at Kellie's if she is happy to have us!! Ratbags and all!
Kellie if your happy for that to go ahead, PM you address to us and a time.
For some reason I can't PM - do I not have enough posts???
My email address is kellie_wilton at dodo dot com dot au (with the @ and . in the appropraite places :D) for those who'd like my details.
Cheers
Kellie
:wall:
Kellie: It would be great to meet on Wednesday, though I have to work and can only make meeting on weekends. I would love to come another time though!!!
I thought I was the only mum going the nine yards (and probably getting in a little over my own head) to do some studies as well. Its so great to see there are somany other people around town doing the same thing...
Do you all going crazy when the weather is as it is of late?? I am for sure, and as am not lucky enough to spend all of my time with Huricane D & B, I would almost be pulling my hair out trying to ammuse them if I was!!!
Sara: WHere ar eyou going and when will you be back? Moving is never the most enjoyable experience, particularly not in the rain. And something always gets broken-always. The more help the better I say.
Well, as you can see, wrk is very dismall this morning... :(
What do you do for work Kirreia?
Im bored already and its not even lunchtime lol Dh helped me clean yesterday so not much to do except a quick sweep and fold some washing. Might bake some cupcakes with Ds1 when Ds2 goes to bed. Prob too much to hope Ds1 might nap too *sigh*
I do believe I glimpsed some sun before ;)
Anna: I do admin and recruitment in town. And unfotunatley it is very quiet. My boss has been great though. I have a re-sit for an exam on Friday and he has been letting me study on copany time *shhhh* dn't tell anyone ;)
my DH works in the mines and is away every other week. WHile he is away his mother kndly looks after Hurricane D & B and when he is bac he gets the oppertunity to.
And yes... The days trudge along sometimes don't they.. Congratulations on the upcoming 3rd addition toyour family. We are considering a 3rd, but not sure if I want to atm with the current economy as it is. That's a little selfish isn't it...
Not selfish, smart :) We are lucky that my Dh is in the military so job security and a steady salary are what keeps us afloat. I cant imagine not having that assurance, I worry enough as it is now! We never intended on having 3, we actually struggled to conceive #1 and then #2 was a fertility treatment baby so anything more than that was a bonus. Then we had #2 and after the horrid pregnancy I had said done and dusted. But then I got clucky and felt like I wasnt done so talked Dh into just one more (even though Ive always wanted 4+) and got surprised by this little miracle on our move up here! Some days I think Im a bit mad with 3 under 2.5 but for the most part its fun! Time flies. We're definately dont though, I want to study nursing (well midwifery but if we stay here nursing it is for the time being) and get 'me' back if that makes sense. I feel like Ive been pregnant and feeding for so long my poor body needs a break  That and Dh feels very neglected haha Happy mama = happy family so Im hanging up my pregnancy panties when bub is born and will be content to help deliver other people's when the time comes.
Oh and Im getting a neice of nephew in July so more baby-ing without actually having to take it home with me ;)
Anna: I think my DH is cluckier than me. I am happy with two as I am not sure I can handle more than that, but he would love to have a whole football team. Although I think he loves the act of making babies even more than actually having them.
Is it nice at Bushland Beach? I have only ever been out there once before, as we usually only go as far as derragun. My MIL lives in Deeragun so have no real need to go further unfortunately. Do you feel isolated at all out there?
Just listening to the radio news: THey think the extrpoical cyclone will most likely re-form on its way out to see. The weather is just unreal..
Can I ask everyones honest opinion? My son wants to start a sport and he liked watching the tennis.. DO you think he is too young (4.5) to start playing and learning? Nothing full-on. My family seems to think so, but I am putting him and his Ds into little athelietics in July so maybe not? THe just need some other interaction with other kids.
Ah my Dh is the complete opposite, he would have been happy to stop at 1 or 2 lol
It is nice out here, quiet and out of the way. For the last 2yrs we've lived outside of town (when we were in Victoria) so I dont know what we'd do if we lived in town. We were originally supposed to be in Kirwan but our move got pushed back so we had to give that house up. Then this one became available before our move so we took it sight unseen. Luckily enough its a brand new 4 bedroom, the nicest house we've lived in so far and its just big enough for the 5 of us and all our stuff. Itll be the one thing I miss most about being here if the Army moves us in July. I dont really feel isolated because I drive (although it took me forever to get my licence ha) and we have to have 2 cars for Dhs job (he travels to different workplaces atm) so I just hop in the car and cruise around town if I get bored. A sanity saver I assure you, if I didnt drive Id probably hate it out here as I feel bad asking people to come all this way to see me.
I dont think your son is too young for a sport, not sure what the age limit is on tennis lessons, I know alot of sports ask the child to be 3 or over before starting. Ring around and see if there are any tennis coaches giving lessons! I cant wait til my boys are old enough to do sport, its very important to Dh and I that they get some physical activity in outside of school and what we do with them. I danced up until I got married and my Dh always wished his parents had let him play football. Go for it!
I'll be there :) Im bringing cake or something yummy.
I'll be there, just let me know where and when.
Hey All!! This rain is driving me nuts!! I just drove home from work at 80km/hr on highway cause it was raining so hard!! Got to bushy Beach turn off and there was a big accident at the lights. Is horrid this weather!!
Sara - Good Luck with your bach midi. When I did my nursing, I always intended doing my midi, but have never got the urge to go back to uni and do it yet!!!
Kellie - you are a brave woman!!! Thanks for the offer of your home for a get togther - sounds great!! You sound very busy with work and your 4!!!
Kirriera - welcome!! Must be hard with your DH away at the mines so much. I am not allowed a 4th because we can't afford it either. I have 2 at school, and only work part time so I can do the whole school/sport duties!! My little one is a handful though, he is almost equal to 2 kiddies!!!
Anyway, think I better head to bed. The rain is coming down so hard I better turn the baby monitor up tonight or I won't hear my little man!!! I so need a dryer!!!! Might check out the good guys tomorrow!!! Need to do a few extra shifts to buy one!!!
Just email Kellie for her address Ali and anyone else interested in going, its at 10amish. Im bringing something yummy to eat!
Shellbelle: Did you see the good guys about a dryer??? i went yesterday and they are all sold out!!! There is a second hand applicance store in Hyde park that might have one though... I think everyone has the same idea. I wish I had one, at the moment I am washing every day so i can air dry them (not that that is really working either).
my DH rang me today worried that i wouldn't be able to pick him up from the aiport tonight. lol. he can be so cute sometimes.
If I am not at work tomorrow  I would love to come and meet everyone...
I think I need to invest in an umbrella. Got soaked from the car to the supermarket door at the Mt Louisa corner shops!! Grrr.
Might not make it tomorrow now, the Bruce Highway at Bohle/Deeragun is flooded so everyone is getting in and out via the southbound lanes heading into town. Dh is on leave til further notice soooooo he'd rather I didnt go 4WD snorkelling anywhere in my condition.
So I will email Kellie tomorrow and leave a note here if I definately cant make it :(
Do you have everything you need there Anna? or would you be needing groceries or anything while the highway is flooded? If it could be a while, you are welcome to stay here.
I just did a grocery shop so we should be right for now but thanks for the offer!
Hi girls!
I am flooded in too.
The rds are blocked at the Bohle on Herveys Range Rd and on Black River Rd. They are my only ways into town.
See how the rain goes tonight. If it doesnt rain that much the water will probably have run off by then.
I will post in the morning if I can make it or not.
Hi Ladies how are we all going?
Wow there was so many new posts :o but i have been trina access this site for days and it kept re-directing me to an unknow page was driving me nuts!
So how is every one and the little ones??
We are good here Xav's talking is never ending and his going through the "why" stage you try explaining to a 2.5yr old why its raining omg LoL..
Indy is doing good, cheky as and she only had one sleep today :( but it was for 3 hrs ad she has only just given in and gone to sleep!
Am i the only one who LOVES this rain, i wouldnt care if it kept going LMAO the only thing i dont like is driving and the roads are just falling apart and cant get anywere outa townsville.
Sarah~ Good luk with the moving!! Hope the rain eases for enough time for u too move!
Hey All!! Hope you have a great meet up today!! I am off to work so I can't make it! Still doing extra shifts to pay for that dryer lol!! Wonder what the highway is like today? We haevn't had much rain over night so fingers crossed the traffic is not as chaotic as yesterday!! At least the road is still open I spose!! be interesting to see what hapens if that low forms into a cyclone now - yikes!! Have a great day!!!
In the interest of safety, with all the rain we've had overnight, I think it would all be best if we stayed safe and sound, tucked away at home. Esp. seeing Anna and Sara are unable to make it. What do you all think?
Hi girls!
Sorry to say but we are not going to make it in today. The girls and I are sick with the flu and I hurt my back yesterday moving boxes. :wall:
Plus from what I've heard on the radio the roads are pretty bad with potholes. I really don't want to be driving around with the roads in the condition that they are.
Sorry girls!
Hopefully I will get to say a proper goodbye before we leave....
Im still happy to come to the meet if others are going too, otherwise we can postpone it! Dh went to work so road conditions cant be mega bad and I have a 4x4.
ETA - My Dh just said its a disaster zone out there so I reckon we should postpone it til another day :c)
Hey girls its a shame use had to council ur meet today, but the roads are a disaster zone i had to drive my son and neighbours daughter to daycare today (near the strand) and it took me an hour from Rasmussen and i was crossing hot poles bigger then my car lmao the roads are literally falling apart!
The weather has gone funny again, rain has stopped my guess is the Low forming off Cairns is dragging all the weather into it to build strength! But i dont think the rain has gone!
So how is everyone coping?
Hey Girls!
So much for that little ray of sunshine yesterday, how humid was it!
The kids were so excited, they got to play outside on the trampoline for a while. DH has finally left for work today, have some peace and quiet while he is gone, he returns next tuesday.
How is everyone fairing? I am absolutely exhausted at trying to explain the bushfires on TV to my son. He understands fire is bad and can see the devistation - he is a very caring individual. But can't fathom 'why' it happens. Why would have to be my least favourite word right now. And it is not just that, everythign is why... I am starting to wonder if he will grow out of it.
I hope you are all well, and if you have family or freinds in Victoria, my heart and prayers are with you all.
