Hi Emma,
Welcome to Belly Belly!!

Hi Emma! So how is the EN training going? Must be hard to study etc with all your kiddies! I am an RN, so ever any questions fire away!
Sara- I did my RN's externally for a few years when I had my first DD, is lotsa work hey! Are you doing it thorugh JCU? So you are doing your doula training at the same time! Wow, well done! This is my 6th year nursing and I have been neonatal nursing for 4. I have often thought about doing my mid but have been having kids myself instead!!
Anyway girls, betta keep cruising, bubs is asleep so having 5 mins to myself!!
-
Shell - Yep I am doing both courses at the moment as well as taking on clients!!! To be honest, its all pretty quiet at the moment. As you know, uni is constant and I have to force myself to do study and stuff. Because of that I am usually rushing at the last minute to get an assignement in!
Midwifery has always been something I was curious about doing. From a very young age I knew that, one day, I wanted to be a mum myself so I have felt very maternal from a young age. I guess thats kinda where the attraction to Midwifery/Pregnancy/Birth/Babies comes from.
How do you find working in the NICU?? I don't think I could do it. As well as being maternal I am a very emotional person and don't think that I could go to work everyday and see babies in such a fragile state. I really do take my hat of to you and your colleagues.
My mum is doing her EEN's at the moment and work at a Nursing Home. I went in there yesterday to take my brother in to her. I have been going in there and sitting with her and the residents for a while now and know a lot of the ladies in there. Yesterday one of them came out and she looked terrible. Everytime I go in there, which is'nt that often, you can see how much they are deteroirating in there. I almost cried there and then. I had to stop myself. I then said to mum "I could never work in here. To much death. I'll start at the beginning of life thanks". She replied with "There is death there aswell sometimes." Which is true but its not something you are confronted with day in day out. Am I being naive to think this???
Anyhoo, sorry to ravell on here.
Hope you are all well....

Hi girls!
Welcome to Nicola and Rach!
We actually have'nt organised a Belly Belly meet yet. I spse we should pull our fingers out and organise something.
I am free everyday except Tuesday at this stage as Briley has started going to kindy.
Does anyone have any suggestions on days, times and places????

Hi!
How about thursdays? and every week we choose another park / house to go too? Im pretty sure if we start advertsing a mothers group we could attract quite afew mums, i think starting one would be great, esp for new mums to the town that dont know anyone but want to make some friends.
Welcome rach, you can email me at emmaspaeth@msn.com if ya ever want to chat or whatever. Im semi new to townsville moving here from sa just before new years! Sara is very friendly and inviting, she;s the first chiki babe i met on here!

actually i can look into heatly hall where i have multiple birth mums meetings, might be better for everyone if its in a confined place to watch the kids.

Aww thanks Emma!
I like the idea of a closed off area. I actually have just checked out the Playgroup QLD website. I was thinking maybe we could start a Belly Belly Playgroup???
Thursdays will be fine for me at this stage.....
Anyone else???
-
Thursdays are good for me! Mornings would be good, and i'm sure we could round up enough Mum's and kiddies to form a great playgroup!!!
Emma- is heatley hall the one near long tan swimming pool??
sara- will check out website but how do you actually get toys and stuff to start a playgroup?? But would be at least structured I spose! Will check out website - great idea anyway!
Will be good to put faces to names though! But year thurs is def good day for us...
-
Yep it is right next to long tan, I will get in contact with president of muliple birth play group as at heatly hall theres a cupboard full of toys and a kitchen etc. Be perfect really. So I will look into it, see if costs anything etc. Would def be great to meet new people and get out and about...
