It is 3.30am in the morning. I have been awake since 1.20am, going in and out & NURTURING my daughter throughout the night (well, morning, really).
Just thought I'd let you know that I do actually know how to do "my job" - love and nurture my child - I've been doing that for a while now :) ... Since she was born, actually.

I have not slept in 3 years. She has not slept in 3 years. No one can help us. I have no support network. Zero.
And yet I continue to LOVE and NURTURE her!

She was EXCLUSIVELY breastfed (no formula EVER, not even an expressed feed from a bottle because she wouldn't take one) for 27 MONTHS. Nurturing? Why yes I believe so.
How about this? She would never nap in her cot. Guess where she would nap? Only on me. For how long? For over 2 years, every day, I would sit there while she slept on me. So while other mums had time to themselves while their babies slept, or better yet, the good old "sleep while your baby sleeps", I never had that luxury. But I did it without complaint because I KNOW HOW TO LOVE & NURTURE my child. And it isn't a job.

Just thought I'd let you know. That is just the tip of the iceberg. Do not judge (as your signature says) someone's parenting based on a single thread/post on a forum. You do not know me, but I do :) And I am pretty ****ing amazing :)

I think you have completely Misconstrued rouges post hun. No one question your parental ability it was you yourself that said you were a failure. She was just trying to explain that what you mentioned about "controlling you in the kitchen" is perfectly normal.

All of this sounds normal. Try a few distraction techniques and a few other ideas that the PP have suggested. It will all be okay.

Goddess I'm sorry you're having a rough time. I know exactly what it's like.

I definitely wasn't judging you. But I can promise you sleep deprivation is the worst thing in the world. There's a reason it's used as a form of torture ;)

It sounds like you really need some help. It's time to nurture you. Please see a gp. And reach out. Good luck and let us know how you go :hug:

Hope things went OK Goddess, Thought I would pop back and say My DD1 has started doing this. We just told her that is something you do in private not infront of people. Not to stop doing it, and to wash her hands afterwards. So far it is mostly just when the nappy is off so I'm expecting it to escalate when we start TT in Summer as she is showing ready signs. But So long as she sticks to doing it somewhere, not in my face or in the super market I don't care they are her bits iyfkwim? My Mother slapped me for that behaviour I recall and it DID have lasting emotional and physical effects so avoiding it at all costs.

Teaching her also we don't touch other people genitals, started pointing and poking her sister at nappy change time.

I agree with Rouge, I hope you saw your GP and got some help for yourself, even if it was to let off steam. Hope things are better now.
