Question High HCG, but low Progesterone - HELP???

    Hi Ladies,

I am currently 6wks Pg and I have a HCG Level of 59,000 and a Progesterone Level of 30.6, my OB has told me that my progesterone levels are very low and he has given me some prog pessaries to take. Im wondering whether anyone has any stories about high HCG and low levels of progesterone, good or bad??? Did they go on to have healthy babies? or is this the begginings of a m/c?

I have a happy, healthy 2yo girl, but I have had 4 m/c in the last 12 months

Any help or advise would be much appreciated, Im really scared that Im about to m/c again!

Your HCG sounds perfect. As for the low progesterone the pesseries should help it come up. Do you have a repeat BT to check its rising? The progesterone that is and that the pesseries are working? Low progesterone can be a cause for recurrent m/c so perhaps that is why you have m/c in the past however as now its been daignosed the pesseries should be helping. I would recommend a repeat progerterone test to ensure you are on a dose of pesseries that sustains the progesterone at a desired level. You can increase or decrease the amount of pesseries depending on what your results are. Best of luck. Praying you have a sticky bub on board and the pesseries are doing their trick increasing the levels.

Hi Midez - Yes I have a repeat BT on Monday (I will be 7wks) and I also have an ultrasound on Tuesday. Thanks for your well wishes.

I was wondering if a progesterone level of 30.9 at 6wks is low? Can anyone shed any light?

I would really have to look it up at work but I just found a chart that said a progesterone level of 30 or above in the first trimester was normal. Can't hurt to use the progesterone pesseries but it sounds like the are in the normal range even if its the lower end.
