    Older Mum - Shock Pregnancy

Hi, I just found out yesterday I am pregnant, what a shock. I have 5 yr old twins who were though IVF and since then we have taken no precautions.

All of a sudden I had very sore boobs and am a week late so did a test and voila I am pregnant - very nervous and excited at the same time. I will be 42 when the baby is born.

Any other older mums out there

Congrats Kelly! I'm 39 at the moment with a newborn, and my partner is 48 if that is "older" ?

All the best for a happy & healthy pregnancy

Thanks Kazbah - I'm still in shock but very happy of course, we never really thought it would happen naturally. I was 36 when my twins were born and all through that pregnancy the doctors would say because of your advanced age.... wonder what they will say this time

Just noticed that I better change my picture of my boys, I haven't chatted on here since there where little.

That's fantastic! I'm 41 with a 9-month-old and 3 year old and my partner is 48 (need to update my sig). If I didn't have such bloody awful pregnancies, we'd be trying for another.

FWIW, I didn't cop any comments about being an older mum. Someone told me that the average age of mums at the private hospital I went to is 39 and certainly in my circle, all my friends have given birth post-37. One had her second at 44.

Infact, I usually tried to ram my age down the health professionals' throats expecting/wanting them to tell me I was a miracle but none of them really raised an eyebrow

    Congrats and welcome back.

I'm 38 expecting twins and have an 18 mth old DD as well (all through IVF), so you are definately not alone in being an "older mummy".
