    WORRIED..Blood, NO pain or cramping

So last night, I was spotting very little tinges of a light pink. I didn't think much of it becuase I heard that was normal this early in pregnancy. This morning when I used the rest room the first time, there was no pink tinge when I wiped.....then the second time I went it was a little bit more than pink and it started to look more red. I went to the og/gyn and when I looked down after undressing and sitting on the examination bed, it looked like what my first day of menstruation would look like!!!! I have NO pain or cramping whatsoever though. She examined me to see if my cervix was opened or closed, and she said that it was closed so that was a good sign. She said that she still would not be able to see anything in an ultrasound because I'm only about 5 wks, so she now is checking my hcg levels today and then again on friday to see if it has increased. I'm so scared....could I be losing the baby?

    Nessy_Nes,

Unfortunately none of us can see inside you. I wish i could. The fact that your cervix is closed and you are pain-free is a VERY good sign. The hcg tests will give a better picture but for the moment if you have no cramping and your cervix is shut then you have many reasons to hope and hardly any to doubt.

There are lots of places the blood could be coming from, your cervix, where the baby is implanting (subchorionic). Lots and lots of women have first tri bleeding and go on to have perfectly normal pregnancies and beautiful healthy babies.

I didn't have any bleeding when PG with DD but both times i lost my babies my cervix was already open by the time the bleeding began, and the process of it opening had given me significant pain.

Be gentle with yourself, do as much or as little as you feel you want to. I know it's hard but try not to worry too much.

to you. thinking of you hon...

When I miscarried at 5 weeks 4 days I had no pain whatsoever & the bleeding was less than my regular period. I'm not saying this to worry you, more to prepare you if things do go wrong. That said, a lot of women have bleeding during pregnancy & go on to have a healthy baby. Sending you heaps of

    Hi Nessy_Nes,

Sorry to hear your bleeding.. it is scary hey? I bled at 7 weeks and my bleeding was bright red, as I was a couple of weeks further along than you I was able to have an ultrasound and found that everything was ok and am now nearly 33wks pg! (Not to say you can't have an u/s now but meant that the heartbeat was more likely to be seen a couple of weeks on rather than where you are now)

Noone could explain my bleeding but it only lasted overnight and there was not heaps but enough to have me in tears!

    Hope everything goes well

    Nessy,

I just wanted to give you some hope as I know your already thinking all the bad stuff and u dont need to be reminded of that.

I bled from about 4 weeks to around 8 weeks I am now 23 weeks pregnant and everything has settled down. I was told it was bleeding from the placenta as it attached itself. I did however have scans done at 5 weeks and 6 weeks at the hospital.

at the 5 week scan they could see a sac and HB and no bleeding by the 6 week scan they could see some bleeding around the placenta. Maybe you should demand a scan so you can see something ??

    Nessy ness,
I hope all goes well for you tests. My baby died at 11.5 weeks and I had only brown blood at first then it went to red over a couple of days. It wasnt until the fourth day I had minor cramps with some clots. They say with bleeding in early pregnancy it can go either way and there are many positive stories of everthing being ok so be positive and enjoy every moment no matter what the outcome. Take it easy

I had bleeding at 3 weeks, I thought it was AF, as I was waiting for AF since stopping BC. Turns out I'm now 7 weeks PG, I had AF type cramps and 3 days of bleeding.
I hope everything settles down and you go on to have a H & H PG.

I also had bleeding at week 7. Like others said, bleeding could be normal or problematic. My bleeding was caused by the growing placenta crushing a small blood vessel. I know that the bleeding is very scary during pregnancy. Meanwhile, I hope you are not tiring yourself thinking about it. I wish you a healthy and happy pregnancy, and let us know how everything went!

    Hi Nessy ness
It is not unusual to have a small bleed at about the time you would get AF if you were not pregnant. Your cervix being closed and not having pain is a good sign
