    First appointment booked in!

Woohoo so we got a BFP last thursday, so I went to the GP yesterday and got a referral for an OB.
Heard back from the OB's receptionist today and they've managed to squeeze me in on the 14th August even though he was booked out till september...this would put me at 7 weeks, 6 days. Is that early / late? I had seen people say they had scans at 6 weeks, and also read things that said u dont have an appointment till end of the first trimester so am a bit confused!

Also, I don't suppose anyone has had any experience with Dr Pat Maloney in Ballarat?

congratulations. i think that appointment is fine time wise. the early dating scan is not a regular scan that everyone gets. usually working out the EDD by first day of LMP is sufficient. but since you are going to an OB they usually have ultra sound equipment there at hand so they may just give you one then while they have you in. sounds like you were lucky to get that appoinment!!

Can't help you with the OB stuff but CONGRATS. I wouldnt say your app is too early either as you've gotta have blood tests done and they have to talk to you about whether you will have the 12wk scan done. Good luck and i hope all is well.

Congrats MrsC - Sounds like you're getting organised. I'm not going with an OB just my GP. I have to see her every 4 weeks until 28th week then every two weeks so I think that at 7 weeks that should be fine. Since I found out I was pregnant at 3 weeks I had all my bloods done at 5 weeks but my previous pregnancies the tests were done around 6 or 7 weeks so not to worry. I haven't had a dating scan and am unlikely to have the NT scan. A lot of the women I've seen who have dating scans or multiple scans are those who were not regular, are unsure of dates or high risk, recent m/c or bleeding. They generally don't book you into the hospital until 12 weeks.
Have a wonderful pregnancy and take care.
