Hi Ladies.
I am in adelaide. I am currently 6 weeks pregnant my EDD is 28th january!
My GP faxed a referal to the high risk pregnancy clinic at flinders medical centre so they could make me my first appointment, my doctor said my appointment will be in the next 2 weeks. i got a call yesterday letting me know that my first appointment is on the 19th august and it is with a midwife. I will be 16 weeks pregnant at this stage the lady on the phone said that they never see anyone before 12 weeks and they dont do ultra sounds before 19 weeks so i wont be having an ultra sound at this appointment. i am just kinda wondering when everyone else in adelaide is having there first appointments high risk or not.
And what happens at a first appointment at flinders medical centre.
Also when i went to my gp to confirm my pregnancy and all that she did not do a check up or anything she just checked my blood results discussed with me that i should stop taking my metformin medication (for insulin resistance, i have PCOS) and shiped me out. i always kinda thought she was supposed to discuss more with me at that appointment. she didnt even check if i was taking folate! i am of course but how was she supposed to know that if she didnt ask.
i feel like i am being ripped off or something!
The point to me seeing someone at the high risk pregnancy clinic was to discuss with them the possibility of miscarrige if i was to stop taking my medication like my doctor suggested to me, i am keeping on taking it untill i get throught the first trimester and i dont see the midwife untill a month after so she should of just refered me to the normal pregnancy clinic!
so so confusing!
