Heart rate for bubs in early pregnancy

My scan went well today, but........... the heart beat was slow at 107bpm.

I guess if I didn't have extra information like when we lost our first pregnancy, one of the twins had a heart rate of 109bpm which they told me was slow and sure enuf we lost it.

This is going to play on my mind, but for now it is a start, we have an alive bubba, so lets just hope that the heart rate gets stronger. I know Lachlan at the same gestation was 126bpm. I think they like them to be over 120bpm.

They dated me at 6 weeks 2 days.

Does anyone have any experience or words of advice for me???

first off yay for a heartbeat!

Did they say anything about it at the scan? I'm not real sure about how fast they are suppose to be but maybe just call your OB/GP tomorrow and ask them?

I typed 'heart rate in early pregnancy' in google. The first website called "Obstetric ultrasound -- a comprehensive guide to ultrasound scans" said the following;
'Fetal heart rate tends to vary with gestational age in the very early parts of pregnancy. Normal heart rate at 6 weeks is around 90-110 beats per minute (bpm) and at 9 weeks is 140-170 bpm. At 5-8 weeks a bradycardia (less than 90 bpm) is associated with a high risk of miscarriage.'

Looks to me like your bub has a normal heartbeat. Congratulations!!! I hope you have a happy and healthy nine months.

My DD's heartrate was around 97bpm at my first scan at 5 weeks and 6 days, no one mentioned to me it was slow or anything, but at my 18 week scan it was over 140bpm.

Maybe ask your doctor/OB like Antheia suggested. Congratulations on your pregnancy and wishing you a H & H 9 months

Sheree, I was just looking up heart rates on google before and wrote them down (we have a scan next week)
Anyway, for 5 weeks I got 80 - 103 bpm.
6 weeks, 103 - 126bpm
7 weeks 126 - 149 bpm.

Not sure on how 'correct' they are, I'm sure you'll find heaps of differing opinions though.

I had a scan at 6w3d - Bubs heartbeat 105 (dating scan)
second scan at 6w6d bubs heartbeat 116 (scan after some bleeding)
third scan at 9w6d heartbeat 165... (OB appt)

My OB said at the 6w6d scan anything over 80 is good....

So I would not be too worried if I were you, but if you are, can you ring your OB to check?
