    Eating out

    Hi All,

I don't know if this is a stupid question, but I'm mega paranoid so I will ask. I've read that you need to be careful with eating salads etc...making sure they're washed. So, my question is....I'm going to the pub for lunch today and have a craving for a burger! Should I ask for it without the lettuce and tomato or should it be ok?

    Thanks

It's up to you. I used to ask how long ago the salad had been prepared and where it was kept.

When I had hamburgers from takeaway stores I just asked for no lettuce. Not a huge fan of lettuce anyway. You can always ask how fresh it is, but if you're uncomfortable about asking or don't trust their answer then you can always tell them exactly what you want put on it and they should happily oblige.

If you know and trust the place it should be ok. if in doubt ask and hot is normally the safest option.
    Good luck!

Oh good, i'm not the only one struggling.

I had to meet DH at shopping centre and hadn't had any lunch. I walked around the food court just trying to work out what i was 'allowed' to eat. Normally i try to go healthy, so sushi or salad sandwich. Couldn't remember all the rules but knew that sushi and salad (sitting around) could be bad.

Is all stuff you get from sushi place out? Can you get a vegie pack? or cooked tuna? (sometimes they will make it in front of you.

Are pasties ok? quiche from the bakery?

I don't eat red meat, and hot chips will get old pretty quick. I don't eat out alot but would like couple o options.

Francesca1977 - I would just ask for no lettuce or salad in your burger if it makes you uncomfortable. TBH I have never not ate my pubs salad when it has been served but I have looked out for various condiments like mayo for example.

Kate - pies, pastries etc are not a problem infact any meats are not a problem providing they are served hot. This also includes ham, salami etc. I personally do not eat Tuna or any other raw fish but I would assume that raw fish products would be off limits? Someone correct me if I am wrong.

My food aversions have made dining pretty difficult for me and I really only eat hot dogs and chicken and the odd bit of bacon but the adversions are more to do with the smell of the product rather that whether or not its dangerous.

Dont touch anything at sushi places one of the biggest problems at them is the rice.

Pasties, pies etc are all ok as long as hot (i have taken then to parents room before and heated further in microwave.

A sandwich bar with a quick turnover can stil be ok especially if you get the thinsg that are warm eg ****zels, tuna patties, roast etc.

If you want chinesse or anything like that buy things that you see them putting fresh into bai maree.

Noodle places cook fresh to order so they are ok.

    Maccas make to order.

    Good luck
