I have read a few different sites, and am getting different information reharding when you can hear the heartbeat on the ultrasounds, from your experiences how far along were you when you heard your babies heartbeat for the first time.
We saw (but didn't hear) bub's heartbeat on and ultrasound scan at 7.5 weeks, but many people see it after 6 weeks. We chose to wait until 7 because sometimes it doesn't show till then and we didn't want to cause ourselves unnecessary worry.
I vaguely remember reading about doc hearing the heartbeat with a stethoscope and that doesn't happen until a lot later. Don't quote me on that though
I held off on any scans till the NT scan @ 12 weeks thsi time around, but we did hear the heartbeat with the obs doppler at 11 weeks...... you can usually hear it at around the 12 week mark, but can see it earlier if you opt for an early scan.
I heard mine at 10 weeks (u/s) and picked it up with the doppler at 14 weeks (didnt have one prior to that). My sister had an u/s at 7w4d with her 2nd and saw the heartbeat.

I had a viability scan at 6 weeks and 1 day (according to my lmp) and saw a flicker of a heartbeat. Embyro was measuring smaller though than dates suggested and heartbeat was only 71bpm which was deemed a little low. But it was early.
Heard heartbeat on the ultrasound at 8 weeks 1 day. 167bpm. Was very exciting!
I hired a doppler which gives the heartrate following the NT scan I had at 12 weeks and tried it out after I reached 13 weeks - was concerned it would be too early but I found the heartbeat and it was such a relief in the weeks leading up to the 19 week scan when the worry would set in. I'd read about the disturbance that the doppler causes the bub, so I've used it as little as possible. I still haven't sent the doppler back, JIC, and it was again a relief to have it there as I did get worried a couple of times when I'd had lots of fluttery movement and then nothing for what seemed a couple of days.

We heard our bub's heartbeat at 5wks6days because we went in to see our doctor as we'd had some spotting and needed reassurance. Thankfully, all was fine and there was a little heart flickering away in there!
It's the most amazing thing in the world to see that little flicker on the screen and know something's going on in there, especially as you can't feel anything happening ( except the overwhelming, all day morning sickness.... lol )
