    belly flutters??

    Hi Everyone

I have a question, i am now only in my 8th week but i have been getting sort of flutters in my belly (kinda like a muscle twitch) its been happening for about 5 days or so now, i am wondering if this is normal or what is going on, talking to mum and mother inlaw they say you should not feel anything till about 18 weeks. not due for my first scan for another 2 weeks. I just thought i would ask see if anyone else has experienced this before.

    Hi Lyndall
I was feeling flutters from 10 weeks and got my first full blown kick today!! I didnt listen to anyone when they said you wont be able to feel it until this time, because everyone is different. I guess it really depends how much room you have in your uterus. If its cramped in there already you may be feeling it??

Hi Lyndall, I am feeling muscle twitches also! Sometimes it feels like it's behind my belly button and then on the left and right sides of my abdomen, it is feeling really strange and I get movement all the time. It's not sharp pain or anything and definately no bleeding so if you don't have that, I wouldn't worry. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this stuff! I am 12 weeks and 2 days

    Hi Lyndall,

    Congratulations on your pregnancy!

As the others have said... they could feel movement from much earlier on than what most people tell you. I thought I felt movement at about 14 weeks and everyone kept telling me that it won't be the baby and it won't happen for at least another 4-6 weeks. They were wrong though... that little flutter was becoming stronger and stronger by the week!!

So I really think it is different for everyone and trust your instinct I think.

    I hope you have a very H & H pregnancy!

    Wink belly flutters - ok

Thanks everybody. it makes me feel so much better, to have a bit of advice about what others also go through, i think the BB site is fantastic for that, i seem to be learning so much more from peoples experiences here than any book or even the doctor could tell you. Thanks

Hi! I'm 9 1/2 weeks and I've been getting flutters for 2 weeks now.

I don't think it's the baby necessarily *waayyyy too little * but I think it's just things moving around etc. It's cool watching your tummy flutter though

    Hi Girls
I think that your flutters are small muscle spasms caused by everything starting to stretch. At 8 weeks or so the baby is far too small for you to feel any movement. However some women do feel the baby move from about 14 weeks.
Also the fluttering you are feeling now is simular to what you are going o feel when you first feel baby move
