Question Bit of bleeding Just wondring if it sounds 'normal' or 'common'?

    Hi there,
I am 8 weeks pregnant, and starting last Wednesday, started spotting old blood (quite dark brown in colour). I was away on my honeymoon at the time.
Anyway, I know that bleeding is quite common during pregnancy, and because it was the colour it was and I had no pain, I decided to wait things out and see how I went. On Saturday, when I was still spotting (same colour, no pain), I decided it was best to see someone, so DH and I went to the local hospital. I had a beta HCG test that came up in the right range, and was sent for an ultrasound on the Monday.
On the Monday, we got to see our little squishee one, and bub's heart was beating away. There was a slight discrepancy with dates (I have a long cycle), but all was ok.
I got back from my honeymoon on Tuesday night and was asked by the OBS who performed my scan on Monday, to see my GP and get a referral for a scan here at home. I saw my GP yesterday, who gave me the referral and the hospital here got me in yesterday afternoon.
There was bub's again, just fine floating around in there, with a nice strong heart rate of 180BPM. The sonographer also saw some blood in my uterus where the spotting I have been having has come from. At least there was a reason.
Anyway, I was nice and relaxed about it all until early this morning.
I woke up at about 3am and felt something a little wet (sorry TMI) and as soon as I got up out of bed, I had blood run down the inside of my legs. I obviously freaked.
It was bright red and there was a fair amount, but still no pain which calmed me down slightly.
I cleaned myself up, and thinking the worst, attempted to get some sleep.
Now this is what I find a little odd... I woke around 7am, and decided to check on everything. I had placed a pad in during the night and expected it to be full. There was nothing but a very small amount of dark brown blood on it, and the same when I wiped. No red in sight and still no pain.
Should I expect more bright red bleeding?? Does it just sound like the blood I lost was what we saw in my scan yesterday? I can't help but be a little apprehensive and nervous, but I keep trying to think good things, because I have no pain and no more bright red bleeding.
Has this happened to anyone else?

    Sorry this is so long....

It's a bit scary, I know. But the scans you had showing that bubs was ok and that there was some bleeding in there is a good sign. Could have just been that blood coming out. Hopefully that's the worst of it and it's over now.
I had some bleeding this time at 9wks, was brown spotting then red and more when i went to the toilet once then the next time it was back to spotting again! So sounds similar to you. Lasted a few more days after that and then nothing since and everything is fine. Maybe just ring your Dr and tell them what happened and see if they want you to have another scan/BT or anything. But sounds ok to me

If you are at all worried, go for another check. I know that you can have quite a bit of "old blood" and be ok - I had that with DS1. So hopefully it is fine, I am sure it is, but talk to your care provider just to be sure - it will be worth it for the peace of mind.

It is most probably just the blood coming out, hon...

BUT, it is your body and baby, so call your doc for reasurrance!!

    Hello Married Lady!

Yay! but now to the point! I wouldn't be too worried because u saw the bleed etc. when i had my scan at 6w2days the sonographer pointed out an area in my uterus that I may have some bleeding from and not to worry if i do she ssaid it was an internal implantation bleed. I'm 12w5d not and haven't had any but I think this is probably similar to your situation except u did bleed. I have heard of lots of woman havign red bleeds and everything being ok

I think though seeing as it's now red to go back to your gp even if it's just for your own peace of mind and to get a reason for the red bleed

This happened to me - I bled, panicked had several ultrasounds and blood tests all showing it was fine. At one stage I even had a big gush and I thoguht for sure it was over but nope - DD stuck there! I had a pretty stressful 3 weeks but as soon as I hit the 12 week mark and had that ultra sound I felt fine. Also stopped feeling morning sick then too.

My ob said to me that once you have a positive ultra sound then there is only 1% chance of miscarrying. That's pretty good odds to me - but I know how it easy is to panic and worry. OF course check with your doc again - you have the right to feel at ease. Best wishes!

    Thanks all.
I am still nauseas as anything, and my boobies are still sore. No more red blood at all, no pain and barely any brown 'old' blood either. Am yet to call doc, but will do shortly.
    Thanks

Oh Hun! I am so sorry to read that but I have to be honest with you, I have a very strong feeling that your baby is going to be fine! I really think you should head to the hospital to get a scan and they should be more helpful with possible reasons as to why you're bleeding and get on top of it with hcg tests etc. Are you already booked into the hospital? If so just head to maternity otherwise I would go to ER You don't deserve a weekend of stress!

I'm not too really really informed with reasons for bleeding during pregnancy but I think you are right on the money that there is a non miscarriage reason for the bleeding. I would trust your instinct that all is ok because I remember the recent loss you had u knew before it happen really

    Hi niadla,
I had spotting early and then at 13 weeks I had a massive bleed. After losing at 19 weeks I was TERRIFIED.In the morning I went to the hospital, went for a scan and all was well. The sonographer at the hopsital said that it may have been membranes tearing away from the uterine wall.Within days the bleeding became some brown discharge and my pregnancy continued as normal. In fact my little Haylee turns 2 tomorrow. My doctor prescribed me some progesterone suppliments and Im getting him to prescribe me more this time.
Im sure everything will be fine and you`ll go on to have a happy and healthy baby.
I dont mean to sound like Im accusing you of anything but go back in the last week or so and see if anything you may have done could have cause the bleeding.Mine was as simple as pushing a shopping trolley. For some of us just doing simple everyday things can cause PG trouble.
Goodluck tomorrow honey, You`ll be fine
