    Red face Breathlessness

    Hi All,

I am 10 weeks and a few days pregnant and recently I have begun to get severe breathlessnes if I so much as exert myself even a tiny bit (even walking up stairs etc). I am pretty fit and lead a fairly active lifestyle so it shouldn't be unfitness...is this normal???

    Cheers

I've read that pregnant women require more oxygen and that they may start to experience breathlessness at this stage. If you are concerned though then it wont hurt to talk to your doctor or midwife, even if it is just for reassurance that everything is normal.

Hey Lisa, I had the same thing and have had it all the way through my pregnancy. My Dr said it is because our hearts are having to pump alot of extra blood around. In your last trimester it will get bad too as bubs pushes all your organs up. If your worried though talk to your Dr about it.
