Old blood (brown blood) happens to many...it is more likely than not not cause for worry although your worry is understandable. Smart of you to make an appointment for tomorrow but try not to worry too much and to get a good night's sleep. Oh - and I've also been told that it's more common with ivf than with a natural pregnancy but nobody has ever explained why this is.

Hi, with all 3 of my pregnancies I had brown discharge from around 8-11 weeks, different with each pregnancy. I was very nervous and worried myself but sometimes it's just your body getting rid of the old blood.
I know you said you have your scan tomorrow so I agree with buliej and get a goods night rest!

I had this with DD. It turned out that I had thrush. Best to get it checked out.
Good that you are going to get medical advice.

Welcome to BB. Like the others have said, brown blood is supposed to mean old blood. I can totally relate to your fear, I had bleeding throughout my pregnancy and it was extremely frightening. I would go to bed and rest as much as possible, it might help you to relax and also make tomorrow come faster. Seeing a heartbeat is supposed to super increase the chances of a successful pregnancy so the fact that you have seen that is a really good sign in my opinion.

Try not to be too anxious, hopefully the scan will reassure you tomorrow.
It does happen to many women, my dr said about 30% and in most cases all is fine.
Brown blood is old blood, it can be just hormonal or as someone said above, the body clearing out.
I had spotting from 12 days past ovulation, almost constantly through till about 7 weeks and then a few brief episodes of brown spotting (not lasting more than a few hours) up until about 10 weeks.
    I too was very anxious.
I really hope all is well,

    Take care

i had my scan this morning,my baby is doing well. i am feeling much much better. but she said there was a subchorionic heamorrhage area she could see. i dont what that means. she said a lot of women have it so dont worry. she has called me back for another scan in 2 weeks. are too many scans not good for the baby???

Hi - that's very common and is a "good" explanation for the blood. If you google it, you will get detailed explanations if you want. I am having fortnightly scans so I have to say, I sure hope that too many scans are not bad for the baby - at least when there's medical reasons for the scans.

Oh fantastic news!!! I also had a subchrionic heamorrhage........and I bled until 17 weeks. Don't want to scare you, just warn you that it could continue or reoccur. I am so pleased for you though and I wouldn't worry at all about having too many scans. Just enjoy seeing your little one grow

This is what i had and it caused me to bleed...brown, red and pink right through to 15 weeks. if you are concerned at any time just get it checked out, all the MW and Dr were really good about checking me when the bleeding was heavy

    brown mucus freaking out

I had the same as Loula for my first, it got worse after each ultrasound, so we tried to keep them to a minimum and my gp and ob were careful when looking at my belly. It also happened whenever Af would have been due, I wasn't able to bend or lift from early on either.

Only had a little bit of bleeding with dd2, again mostly when af was due. I haven't had any this tine.

    hi

i did search subchorionic heamorhage in google and heaps of info as expected.my spotting has stopped thankgod....but i am getting a scan again in 2 weeks to see if the shadow still appears in the scan. feels good to hear this is very common without any consequences.
