    Nipple question

    Hi all,

I forgot what the ring around your nipple is called, but @ 10weeks....how dark should they be? DH thinks they are getting bigger and maybe slightly darker but I can't see it. And the strange thing is, one nipple and the ring around it seems to be smaller than the other!

Mine really haven't been all that tender!

Thats interesting Shannon, when I was pregnant with Shelby I didn't notice an difference in colour/size. So maybe it's true.

Fletch, its another everyone is different answer. If you are fair haired and fair skinned they usually don't get a lot darker, but saying that (and no I usually dont go around looking at friends boobs ) my friend has the same complexion as me and hers went dark dark by the time she was about 12 weeks.

Hey Flossie, When I was in the first trimester, my nipples went really dark and one was significantly bigger than the other. (left was bigger than right) Anyway i had a bouncing baby boy, so if that's anything to go by have some boy names ready. LOL

I'm fair haired and skinned and mine have definitely gone darker. I've also got those little bumps, but mostly just on my left one and not on the right. I asked the midwife about it last week and she said that it's quite common for them to be different!

DH thinks mine have gotten bigger (the nipple and areola) but not my boobs...well not much anyway.

Question? The little lumps that has been mentioned? Where are they? Are they around the line of the areola or all over it? IYKWIM?

Flossie boobs change all over the place for all different ppl, my aereola are now almost covering my entire breast...
Mine went really dark oth times & I got no linea nigra with Maddy but got one with Indah, both mine were girls, so i think another old wives tales...
But my'dustbin lids' which nipples are commonly called are massive now & they shrink a tad after bubs is about 10-12weks of age & lighten up again toop, but look fondly back on your once perky breasts coz it's all saggin' from here on!!!!

Those little lumps will be all over & I think they are ducts?? Oh I donb knoW!

Tracey LOL perky breasts! So true and not looking forward to that!

Thanks! It just amazing me at the changes, and cause I see them all the time (as does DH) its hard to see what has changed. And I aint going to show other people! Have taken photos though so should check them out!

    LOL

I dont really think there is a "normal" amount of darkness that they should be.
I reckon mine have gotten a bit darker, but not excessively darker, but i cant really tell because it changed gradually.

Mine are darker - I know that because if I wear 3 layers of light tops, you can see them. Whereas before I could wear a thin blouse and nothing else with no nipple showage (no chest showage either, but that's another story). But they've not really grown - the outsides are now stained sort of linea nigra colour, but that's flesh, not nipple (the tissue feels different).

Tracey, perky breasts, saggy breasts... hey, I have to get breasts first!

My areola definitely got bigger and darker when preggo with Gab. Neil used to call them his big chocolate buddies!! PMSL
They haven't started to darken yet.... but I think it started happening further along in the pregnancy? I don't think my boobs have gone back to the way they were before Gab tho... so who knows?

The little bumps, BTW, are your skin's oil glands gone into overdrive, as far as I know. It is pretty common to get them in pregnancy.
And, for the record, my nipples and areolas did get bigger and darker, and stayed that way, according to DH. (I do not keep track of these things, but he seems to keep a pretty close eye on them. )

LOL Ryn, you poor thing. I am in the same boat hun. I went looking for a maternity bra and they start at a B cup - far to big for the (lack of) breasts I was given! The women was PHL when I asked if they did them in an A cup.

Well I think mine have definately gone darker as I could see them through my nightie. They are also bigger....but my left is bigger than my right...weird! I should have taken notice of them before I fell pg Mental note for next pg.

Mine really don't hurt that much though.....does anyone else have this?

I think I read and compare too much! I got this magazine and it had pics of someones bb's through 8-40 weeks and how dark the changes were - I just think everyone is the same ( and no that is not right we are all different).

Isn't left bigger than right the sign of a baby girl?

I don't do the "comparison" thing any more - most of the nipples on the BFing mums are larger than my chest! (I can fit into my large 32A bras still, although I've been told I'm now a 34B I can only fill the teen training bras in that size; proper grown-up women's bras still aren't filled.) Mine only hurt for a couple of days, partly because I was hitting them to see if they hurt, and once because I was running with my work ID badge slapping against them.

Clare, I have a "solution" for my chest - my DH once went on-line shopping for some saucy undies for me, he got some bizzare underwear with poppers on - I think he wanted me to do him a striptease or something, but anyway, they have poppers on the top of the bra, so it will come down for BFing... I'm going to use that at first in case they grow when the milk comes in. OK, I'll look odd with a BF bra that is black see-through with hot pink edging, but I get to look sexy when BFing and the others WILL be jealous. I'll look up the make tonight for you - I was lucky I found them whilst looking for clothes I'd packed away years ago!

ETA: Gossard made the underwear - whilst I'm still hoping to be big enough for a maternity bra, I'll still be using that one at first just in case I get a chest when I start feeding!
