    THAR SHE BLOWS (Gasiness Problem!!)

    Hi ladies,

I am 5 weeks pregnant today and I was just wondering if wind and constipation are normally a problem this early on? I had what I thought was cramping ever now and then and I think I can put it down to wind. I can almost feel the bubbles of air moving their way down to their "destination". This also makes me quite bloated. Is most tender on the left side of my lower abdomen. When I say painful, it's more annoying than anything. Is this normal? Help!! Feel like I might explode LOL!!

Welcome to the joys of progesterone!!!!! It is so normal - very uncomfortable and not socially acceptable but very common. I smell too!!!! It will ease up as you progress closer to 12 weeks...

Ahh, thanks Flowerchild. I feel better now. I think I am analizing every single twinge this time, but these "pains" feel different. Didn't realise wind could cause so much discomfort. As you said, SMELL, PEE EWWW! That is another downside. Am trying to watch what I eat and what seems to make it worse. From what I can gather yoghurt and sultanas aren't really great for me at the moment!!

Can I join the smelly butt girls It doesn't seem to matter what I eat. Either that or I just keep on eating it. My stomach is constantly off, the cramps are shocking and my butt... Well, even the 2 year old comments !!

Oh well, in a house full of males its about time I can keep up with them.

Good to see I'm not the only one though.

PMSL Nic, how funny. Now that's something my DP would say. He made some crude remarks when I was in labour with Tehya too. Men hey !!Don't matter that they always smell like that.

Oh my. I am just TTCing too, but I am reading this thinking, "this isn't going to be good." I have mild IBS and battle with this now and then. Now I am horrified on what will happen. If this starts at 6weeks, maybe I will have some time to plan for a trip back to Canada away from Hubby for a bit! I don't think our small apartment can take it.

Hey Angelgirl, I think mine started around 6 weeks, no idea how long it will last. We had a curry for dinner so we are in trouble later...lol

    Good luck with the TTC.

    Hey ladies,

Since starting this thread I can honestly say the problem has gotten worse LOL!! I think the best way to handle it is to work out which food it is that makes it worse and eliminate it altogether. My gas instigators at the moment tend to be dairy products (mainly yoghurt) and sultanas (or any dried fruit). Sheesh, I tell you!! With all the methane that is coming out of me I reckon I could power a jet plane! Hope all you other ladies aren't suffering as badly as me.....
