    First Obstetrician Visit - Help!!

    Hi all,

I have my first ob appointment tomorrow (8 weeks) and just wondering if anyone can tell me what to expect, this is baby #1 and have absolutely no idea what is going to happen.

Also, has anyone used Nikki Whelan in Brisbane?

Thanks, any help would be much appreciated!

The first few appointments are pretty uneventful

Usually they'll take your blood pressure to get a baseline for the rest of your pregnancy, talk to you about your medical history, give you a pathology referral to go off and have some basic blood tests done (blood group, HIV, Hep and immunities) and if your OB has an ultrasound in their rooms you might have a quick scan done...in which case you'll get to see the heartbeat.

    Good luck and congrats!

i remember having my first app with DS, and being really excited about it. I walked away a bit flat thinking, is that it?
    Basically what Tobily described.
They get a bit more interesting down the track
