Results of NT scan/bloods- How soon?

I have my NT scan on Monday, have already done the blood test. Does anyone know how long it takes for the results to come through? I am not overly anxious but it is both my parents birthdays a week or so after the NT scan and I would like to give them the good news as part of their present... and we havent told any family yet. We were waiting until after the NT scan.
I cant remember how long it was with DD. Its not that long is it?

I had my bloods taken last Thurs as I had forgot all about them, & then my scan the next morn at 9am.........the lady from the scan rang me a few hrs later to say all good. They can tell you at the scan how the results are & then check bloods & give you better result so I would say fairly soon if your bloods have already been taken.

    Hi Jen

My Ob is trained to do the NT Scan - so he gave me the nuchal measurements whilst still scanning bubs. The blood test he said would take a week - and it did, plus a day! I think a week would be about average for blood/combined results. Having said that I live in Hobart, and the blood tests needed to be done in Melbourne - so, depending where you are, it might be quicker. Waiting is a pain, but I just put it in the back of my mind (sort of), knowing that I'd had a good scan.

Good luck - I'm sure you'll be reporting good news to ma and pa

i just watched while she did the scan and saw the measurements with my own eyes, so knew from there there was nothing to worry about... a measurement of 2.5-3 is a concern... normal is anywhere around 1 i believe.

I do remember from the scan with DD that the results were a bit above the normal range and I hadnt had the bloods taken so it was a mad panic for awhile there.
I am actually trying to work out when to get my docs appointment so I can get the results of the combined results. I am thinking the Thursday seeing my scan is Monday but it may be too soon... I am in melbourne.

oh Lee another little bundle coming your way. Hooray! How is Remy going?

If you get a bad result your OB will be on the phone within 24 hours.... well both mine were.

When i had my bloods were 10 days before scan, i had scan and then 1 hr later my OB appt and by appt he had the results allready. When receptionist booked my scan she made appt for 1 hr later for that reason so it saves people travelling for 2 appts.

    Good luck

I had my bloods 2 weeks ago and the NT scan on Friday. The ladies who did the scan (had 2 of them) are trained in all the obstetrics related stuff (ie they don't just do the scan and leave it at that). So, they gave me the results then and there while doing the scan. The pathology had sent my blood results to them already so they put the numbers together and gave me the risk factors on the spot.

When I saw my OB today and he told me the results, I was like yeah I already know

I think it depends on the clinic and your health care provider. I had my bloods taken a week before my scan and the doctor went through my results straight after my scan. I literally left the ultrasound room and went into the next room and he gave us the results. It was great! My OB went through them briefly again at my next appointment but I had brilliant results so there was nothing to discuss really.

Like Satya said, they're pretty quick to give you bad news.

I had my bloods a week before the NT and got the result on the spot. Sonographer did the test but other than saying all looking good she didn't give me any specifics. We then went in to the next room and spoke to the Doctor who went into the detail which was all good.

Regarding the comment about NT coming in at 2.5-3 being a concern I don't know what is considered to be a "good"measurement or not. Ours was 1.98 and our risk rating came in at 2000:1 - not bad considering that I started off in the 50:1 category because of my age. Neither the sonographer, doctor and my OB mentioned it as being high in fact they all said it was fine.

    Best of luck
