Did a search on it, and have googled as well but didn't find a lot... I'm just over 8 weeks today, the last day or so I have been getting a pain in my right hand side, about in line with my hip bone and halfway between my belly button and rhs if that makes sense. At first I wasn't too worried about it, just thought it was another of those pregnancy niggles, but it has been coming back in the same spot and is getting more frequent. It's not a crampy pain, but it's not a stabbing pain either, it probably wouldn't be any worse than period pain but it doesn't feel the same as that iykwim. It only lasts 5-10 secs, 20 secs max and goes away, but it is becoming more frequent (maybe a couple of times every 10-15 mins).
Could it be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy or am I worrying too much? That's pretty much the only "abnormal" symptom I have atm, still feeling nauseous etc but nothing new or different apart from this pain in the one spot. I thought if it was ectopic I would have shown signs before now, like around 5-6 weeks. My HCG level was in the correct range when I got tested (have only had the one blood test done to test that) which was a bit over a week ago. I have my first appointment with the midwives on 1st december, so that's still almost 2 weeks away, and they won't book me in for an ultrasound until 12 weeks unless I get a referral. If it gets any worse I'll go see my doctor... but just thought I'd see if anyone else has any thoughts on it?
HI.
I hope it is just some sort of strecthing or simliar going on for you, but I think if you are concerned you should go see a GP and get some more bloods or scan done before your next m/w appointment.
Ectopic pregnancies can go undetected up till 3 mths, with the body putting out the normal pregnancy signs during that time. If it ruptures (which its more likely to do more damage at a later stage) then not only is that a bigger risk for your future fertility but also your life.
Im not sure with your blood test, if it was normal range only having one test done cannot really say either way. They have to (as Im sure youve read) test every few days over a week or so to check if levels are rising properly. And after a certain stage of early pregnancy that becomes unreliable and a scan will be used to see if there is a viable pregnancy.
Best to go see your GP, rather than keep worrying.
Hi Tia
Go and get it checked...please. I had a ruptured ectopic at 8.5 weeks...my bloods had been monitored every 3 days and were perfect...I had no other symptoms...until the day it ruptured when I just had a naggy pain on my left side. I don't want to scare you but it can be life threatening...better to waste the dr's time now than put yourself at risk...it is more than likely ligaments stretching...I have everything crossed for you xxx
