Question Flu and the first trimester

I have heard that the flu can be quite harmful in the first trimester. What should i be watching out for? Ive been keeping my fluids up and resting but i have work tonight and tomorrow. I don't have any sick leave so cant take the day off..

I too was worried about this as I was sick a couple of times in my first trimester. There are a couple of viruses that can be harmful if it's the first time you've had them, such as CMV, but if it's flu or a cold virus chances are you'll be fine. All in all our bodies are pretty good at protecting bubs. Try to take care of yourself, and keep up your fluids like you are and please stay away from Dr Google for your own sanity FWIW I think I ended up having half a dozen cold and or flu's over the whole duration of my last preg and bub was just fine

Just keep an eye on your temperature - you don't want any fever etc. Rest, lots of fluids and good luck. It is sucky

As Star said, just keep an eye on your temp. This is the thing to mainly worry about when you are sick anytime in your pregnancy but more so in the first trimester. Drink lots of water and take a couple panadol if you start getting a fever or your temp starts to rise. If you are still feeling yuck in a few days, go get checked out.
