    Unhappy HCG Doubling....Prog slightly dropped???

    Hi Guys

    Need your advice.

Im 5wks, my HCG was 3445 on Monday and is doubling as normal, however Monday my Prog was 51 and this Monday it has dropped to 44. I feel good, not bleeding, not cramps, not spotting, nothing.

Is this normal, should I be concerned, I'm having another blood done on Thurs.

    Help!

I was told by my OB that the progesterone does drop and they dont measure HCG or Progesterone after 8 weeks due to this. But you should talk to your doc to see if they are concerned. Your HCG results are wonderful. Mine were only 2700 at 5 weeks. My progesterone was 87. Just to give you indication with my first which I miscarried at 4 weeks my progesterone was only 14 and at 5 weeks it was 11 and I miscarried at 8 weeks. My Fertility specialist told me due to my low progesterone I may have miscarried. Your progesterone is still a good level... what does the doc say? I found a website which lists the levels that are in each Trimester... hope this helps.

    Progesterone during menstrual cycle

    Day 1-14
    >1 to 1.5 ng/ml

    Day 15-28
    2-28 ng/ml

    Progesterone during pregnancy

    First Trimester 9-47 ng/ml
    Second Trimester 17-147 ng/ml
    Third Trimester 55-200 ng/ml

Edited to add, I have read that some girls take a progesterone cream to help... I havent but may some girls can let you know about it?

They only worry if porogesterone is below 25, anything above that is fine. I'm sure the next result will show if it still dropping and need some progesterone support.Just icky but as the PP have said your Hcg is perfect. Good Luck hope your next blood test shows the same if not an improvement

Don't worry too much about it. I've not had my progesterone tested once during this pregnancy as my doctors don't believe it's necessary. Hope all continues on well.

    Hi there

With this pregnancy, my HCG was doubling beautifully but my prog started dropping at around 6 weeks to somewhere in the 30's. My FS clinic told me if it dropped below 30 then they would be concerned so I started on one prog pessary per day until I was 12 weeks when the placenta kicked in.

I hope everything turns out okay for you.

I have a question relating to this, hope you dont mind... but when the doc tells you your hcg levels and that you are officially pregnant, does the progesterone reading matter? do we need to ask for that aswell or will some docs just give it to you anyway? will i need to ask for this aswell as the hcg reading??

I hope it all works out for you hun, your hcg levels sound great though

    Hi Renstar

I am going through a fertility clinic so they check everything they can, with my previous pregnancies (10 years ago!) I just had a blood test with my local GP, he said I was pregant and that was it so maybe it isn't that big of a deal. I feel a lot better today about, my partner has reassured me and told me everything will be fine so I am holding on to that at the moment.

MT: I hope everything goes smoothly. My dr hasn't measured my prog. levels at all, because she doesnt think it's necessary. Actually, I haven't had my HCG measured either. Don't stress And congrats on the pregnancy!!!

    Hi Renstar,

It depends on your situation, I have had problems have been classed as recurrent MCC, so my OB has put me on progesterone pessaries to help my PG continue along. I believe this will help create a heatlhy atmosphere for baby to grow, that's at least what is hoped from it.

It depends on your GP as to whether or not they test for it, normally they just do Hcg, you can always ask if worried

    Best of luck
