Unhappy I've got a virus in the first trimester :(

Well, I'm a little worried. I'm just going on 8 weeks preg and today I've felt quite yucky. Just extremely tired, blocked nose, sore glands and I've just taken my temp and I have a mild fever.

I'm a little worried about how having a virus might effect my bub? And I'm especially worried it could be CMV as blood tests I had several months ago showed that I haven't been exposed to CMV before.

I guess I'm looking for some re-assurance that everything will hopefully be okay.

Big hugs. I hope you feel better soon. Have you seen a GP about this? Get yourself checked out hun and rest up as much as you can. Can your DH take time off for a couple of days to look after your DD so you can rest?
I hope it's nothing too bad..... I'm sure your body will do a brilliant job at fighting off whatever it is you are dealing with and your bub will be just fine. Nature usually looks after it all

I'm sure your bub will be fine . I had numerous colds and viruses when pg with DD (I had bronchitis 3 times!), I had to take antibiotics and DD was just fine. I think our immune systems work harder at looking after bub than us which is why we tend to get sick so often when pg. I had a blocked nose the ENTIRE pregnancy with DD!

I hope you feel better soon .

I had the same thing early on with this one and everything was fine. I even had some throat lollies with even thinking, but all is ok with bub, so I wouldn't worry yourself.

A friend of mine got a serious virus in the first tirmester, was in and out of hossy and at 23 weeks she still isn't over it. She has had a lot of heavy meds, but bub is still safe and sound and growing beautifully! It's amazing how well protected they are in there.

Take care and I hope you're feeling better soon.

Thankyou for your replies everyone. I'm feeling somewhat better now. Fever is gone (and was only mild anyway) so I've just got the congestion and sore glands in my neck now. I've somehow managed to pull a muscle in my back though. Well not sure if it's a pulled muscle or a nerve that keeps pinching because it periodically spasms and hurts really bad. And I can't take any decent pain relief, boohoohoo, what a week
