Just came back from my first Doc visit. And he said the BT I had last week to confirm Ov (using clomid) showed a Progesterone count of only 20. He would expect it to be 50-70 in early pregnancy.
His general vibe made me think that he does not hold out much hope for this baby. He didnt say that outright, but it is just a feeling I got. But he spoke a bit (a bit more than I wanted him to) about miscarriage and flawed embryoes and not getting too excited until the 8-10 week mark.
I could be wrong, I havent been seeing him long and he has a strong accent, so I am still getting used to communicating with him.
So I would love to know what others think of this progesterone reading of 20. And is it a bad thing, or I am worrying unnessecarily? I would have been 6 or 7 DPO when I had the test done.
a result of only 20 doesn't mean much at all. you've had a BT a week after when they THOUGHT you would ovulate based on taking the clomid, but clomid is notorious for making people ovulate later and extending cycles. so it's highly possible that you simply ovulated later than anticipated, so you were only a few DPO, and your Dr is playing it safe by reminding you that early miscarriage is, unfortunately, far too common.
hope is the one thing that you have ultimate control over - and you need to remain positive through your pregnancy
when i rang to see if i "o" with clomid i wasnt even bothered what the progesterone count was. i as so stoked i actually "o" and im now nearly 30 weeks pregnant! good luck sweety
