I have been prescribed Maxalon from my GP. But I am not vomiting, just feel extremely nauseous all day. What are your experiences with this medication? Did it work for nausea?

It was weird, for me it masked the nausea. Like i could still feel it but it was easier to deal with. But i was vomitting up to 20 times a day and lost 15kgs so needed something so i didn't keep losing weight.
That's all I need. To just NOT feel the nausea![]()
Tasha I had heard that you can become resistant to it. I am still on the edge of vomit all the time and sometimes tip over into pukeville. It really takes away some of the enjoyment and maybe if I had my time again I would have taken some drugs for the sickness, although I kept being told and hoping that it would pass. It hasn't for me
If you want to take it then do it, if it doesn't work for you there are other things I think you can try as well.

Joeve, I have to be honest. When you said you still suffer from it at 27 weeks, I made the decision to get somethingThe thought of enduring this for months frightens me!!
Ask about zofran (I think) if maxalon doesn't work. I can't take maxalon, so never found out if it actually worked for me. The first 3 times sent me off my rocker, so I never took it again.
Never worked for me, nor did stemital. My dr prescribed Ondansetron (Zofran) as it is meant to work On 90% of people... Never worked for me either![]()
Maxalon makes me very drowsy and irritable in my body.
I now put it down as an allergy.
The others have suggested good alternatives.
You could also try Vit B6 tablets which you can buy over the counter from your chemist.
I had morning sickness throughout my entire pregnancy and I mean vomiting every day and night. My GP prescribed me with maxalon but since I'm allergic to it, I felt more sick and I had the worst anxiety from it. Went to hospital and I swear the hospital thought I was some kind of freak as I was kicking and scream as I became so anxious that I couldn't sit still. Never again. Stemitill is the exact same as maxalon but doesn't that nasty part in it. Although stemitill made me very tired so I couldn't take that during the day as I had to work. U may just be like me and have to deal with the nasty sickness for time being.
Hmmmm, having second thoughts about taking it nowI have tried ginger, didn't work. Peppermint tea, didn't work. Tic tacs worked for a short time. lemons work while I am sucking them. But other than that, nothing works.
I don't think I have ever winged so much about anything in my entire life![]()
I tried all that too to no avail. Whinge away it is absolutely horrible!![]()
I've taken maxalon for ms lots of times and its always done wonders but I've only taken it when I really needed it I didn't take it 24/7.
As with everything it works for some and not for others, if the ms is making life hell its worth giving it a go![]()
I feel as though I shouldn't take it because i am not physically vomiting. But the nausea is so bad I don't even smile any more, ever.
TMS, I was thinking of just taking it in the evenings when it's really bad.
ETA: Ya know what's worse. We just got a new leather couch on Saturday and the smell of it makes me so ill.![]()
Take it.. What's the worse that can happen it doesn't work and you have to try something else?!?
Maxalon, stemitil and zofran didn't work for me. I was like you - not vomiting much, just constantly nauseous.
Restavit was awesome. It's over the counter and non-addictive. You'll be sleepy (it's a sleeping tablet) but it's better than nauseous.
Your poor thing, it's such a horrible feeling.
You could also try acupuncture, I have heard of people having success with it for morning sickness.
I took maxalon otherwise I could. not. move. When combined with ginger, sea bands and sniffing lemons (try it!) I could get through the day.
