has anyone else experienced changes in weight/bloating in the first trimester ??

    Hi Ladies

Happy weekend to you all. Yes, I am very boring and am on the computer on the weekend!

I was wondering if anyone else had experienced a shift in weight/bloating in the first trimester??

The reason I ask is that when I was very eary on (like 4/5 weeks) I was so bloated and felt like I had put heaps of weight on around my middle and I even had to go and buy some new jeans. I am in my ninth week now and over the last couple of days I have felt like I am not bloated at all. I have noticed a change in my uterus area and feel like I have lost weight and can feel a pronounced area behind my pubic bone. I didnt think anything of it but I did my jeans up this morning and I could do up the belt one more hole than before.

I am really confused. I was at the doctors only 4 days ago and there was a very lively heartbeat. If something had gone wrong surely it would not be noticeable so quickly with my weight????
I keep telling myself its because I havent been drinking since being pregnant (and I used to have a glass or two of wine pretty much every day) means that I have lost weight from that alone ??? Is that possible?

I havent suffered any other pregnancy symptoms other than my breasts getting bigger and they hurt (mostly only at night) for about a week or two.

I am hoping someone else out there has had the same experience ?? I know that if I am worried I should go to the doctor but was wanting some real life experiences before I run to the doctor.

Sorry for the long winded post. Just very very confused.

I was enormously bloated early on - was wearing maternity trousers/skirts at about 6 weeks because my normal stuff was just so uncomfortable, especially towards the end of the day.

I've had a day here and there at probably about 8-9 weeks where I can wear my "old" jeans again easily, but then the next day I'm back to being enormous again. All up I've lost 4 kgs so far but now there is no way I'm fitting into anything normal and looking at my stomach you would think I'd put on 10kgs.

FWIW, when I had an OB appt a couple of weeks ago there was a woman there for her 24 week appt and she was so flat stomached it was ridiculous. No idea where in there she was hiding that baby because there was nothing of her.

Try not to stress about it. Our bodies all do things differently and some women are going to get a pregnant tummy a long time before others. If you're worried go to your dr to put your mind at ease, but sounds pretty normal to me.

LuluHB - thanks so much for your reply!! Yesterday I was surfing the net looking for maternity clothes as I felt so big and today I feel 'normal'. I would be quite happy to wake up tomorow and be all bloated again !! ha ha.

Its just so weird how some women are so thin and even wear their normal pants almost all the way through a pregnancy and others like us turn into balls the moment we conceive!!

Well thanks again for you story. It has put my mind at ease a bit. I still have my fingers firmly crossed but not freaking out so bad :-)

    Have a great weekend

I seem to go up and down a bit too. At the start I was very bloated, then I had MS and lost a good 4 kg, I haven't gained back any weight but am looking bigger again - I can't fit into a lot of my usual clothes. It's all a bit mysterious. Even through the course of a day my tummy shape changes quite a bit. I reckon it must be normal!

Ive been bloated since 3 weeks.. Just like period bloating. MY mine comes &goes as well. I thought it may have something to do with the QLD heat!
I was sick of arguing with my jeans on a daly bases ( I work in a clothes shop where jeans is acceptable!) So I put away all my jeans already until I'm ready for them. Pumkin patch have some great belly jeans & I mangered to get some at their clearance store for $15.00. So far I have put on 2.2kgs which Im not sure if its aan acceptable amount however I m hapy with that has before I was on a very strict diet & ate very little meat, so to eat "noramlly' again & only gain this much I happy
