    Need some information

Hi everyone. A friend of mine just linked me to the forum so I can pick your brains
My husband has just been relocated for his job from here, NZ to Brisbane. Last week we also found out I was pg with number 4. So I'm currently 4w3d and he leaves in 3 weeks.
All my babies have been c-sections due to a traumatic first labour. I get GD and serious SPD also. I've has 7 m/c's and so when you add it all up I've always been *labeled* high needs LOL. Since all of my babies have been born here and and I've got a wonderful OB and MW that I know we are seriously considering I stay here until, God willing, this baby is delivered - which will make for a VERY long 9 months.
But if it doesn't work out that way... tell me what I'd need to do, go, see, contact, information about delivering via section in Brisbane. I know nothing, nor where to start. Thanks in advance!!

depends if you want to go public or private. if public i would see a GP first cause you will need referrals etc. dunno how you go about private.. i think you just pick a hospital and call em. maybe there is a private hospital that cater for planned cesarians. not sure. sorry not much help for ya! :-) oh and congratulations by the way!

Spot on with Public Hollo I think most GPs will ask which hospital you want to go to and make a referral up based on that, so if you choose private (has a gap) then you can tellt he doctor which hospital you want or which Ob. With public you are more likely to see a team of Obs. If you are eligible for medicare there are no gaps with public.

Litia - if you see an OB privately, then medicare will cover some of your expenses - then you cover the gap. If you have Private health insurance - this will pay for your hospital stay.

I've had 2 sections and I'm in private health cover - so I get a referral from my GP for an OB. Then make an appointment with the OB and go from there. I take all my receipts from my appointments to medicare and get whatever I'm entitled to, after I have paid for them at the OB's.

Public system is like what the other girls said (actually, I'm not quite sure how it works cos I don't use it.. )

Good luck!!! We have great hospitals here in Queensland

Thank you - sounds like you do what I do. I went public with my first baby and after that I chose private. May I ask how much it cost you out of pocket? Here all the prices have gone up since funding changed - it will now cost me about $2000 to have my own OB deliver me in the public hospital.

Thank you - so I would need to find a GP... you just get one that is close to you?
