Question Pregnant while Breastfeeding - early signs???

    hi everyone
I dont know for sure as i am still trying the figure out my body post partum, however.... sorry in advance for TMI but i need to explain for you to accurately comment iykwim

About 2-3 weeks ago i had ewcm - something that has been scant post-birth obvioulsly from hormones adjusting etc.

Anyhow the past 6 days i have had an increase in CM, light AF pains, light-headedness, and a little offness this morning - not full on nasuea just a lump in my throat and feeling a little off colour if that makes sense.

Anyhow on friday when the af pains started i thought maybe i am ov-ing (as i havent had AF yet) and used mayby baby and sure enough ferns appeared, but the confusing thing is they still are 6 days later?

i am not on the mini pill as i thought you had to have af first to start and i am BF full time.

I cannot get to a chemist to HPT until the weekend and being BF-ing and post-partum not sure if these are just normal feelings (this is my first bub).

Any advice would be great or experiences similar post partum.

    hugs

You wrote my story. And I'm pregnant!! I stopped bfing my little girl at 12 weeks, but by then I was well and truly feeling pregnant. I'm pretty sure I O'ed when DD was 7 weeks old.

PM, it could just be the pg hormones leaving your body - that takes about 3 months to happen fully. Or it could be your cycle starting. Or you could be pg. I know that's not very helpful, but all I'm trying to say is that what you are describing is not abnormal at this stage.

In terms of contraception, bfing is considered 98% effective for the first 6 months post partum, only if you are exclusively bfing (no formula or solids) AND you are feeding during the night AND you don't have AF. But there are a few mums on here that have fallen into the 2% so it is possible. You don't have to have AF to start the mini-pill BTW, so if you aren't pg and don't want to be then maybe you should consider starting. This of course is entirely up to you and your situation. I couldn't take the mini-pill but didn't fall pg during the first 6 months either time without any other contraception.

In the meantime, consider a HPT or BT to be sure. Good luck, I hope you get the result you want.

I purchased the mini pill 3 weeks after givng birth - i was exclusively b/f . No need to wait for AF.

Melanie is spot on with her advice.....

I fell pregnant when DD#2 was 10 months old, so a little older than your baby. I did notice a change in her feeding habits....and my milk supply did drop (i.e boobs seemed to shrivel up overnight almost).

I guess the weekend cannot come fast enough?? Good luck !
