    Vitamins, UGH

I am suffering from some pretty awful all day M/S right now, and I take my pre-natal vitamin just before I crawl into bed. Lately though within minutes of swallowing it I am on my knees hugging the toilet with the most horrible nausea ever, praying I'm not going to throw-up my anti-nausea pill. I tried having a snack first which helps a little bit but I still feel sick after taking it. The last few nights I just couldn't bear it and just took folic acid on it's own. This went MUCH better.

So my question is, if I'm temporarily not taking my pre-natal (once M/S lets up I will try again), and just taking the folic acid, are there any other vitamins that are really important for me to be taking. What is it in the pre-natal that causes nausea?

I don't even know anything about prenatal vitamin LOL. I take folic acid daily, and I take Maxalon when I need it. I've had really bad ms this week, and I had to get a maxalon shot on Thursday. So I have to carry maxalon tablets with me from now on.

I feel for you. I am on Diclectin but am still feeling sick. So is folic acid the only supplement you are taking?

I find that even when TTC that i throw up all but one of the pregnancy multivits...and i have tried them all LOL!

the only one that agrees with me is elevit. my GP reckons that it is quite common and depending on your own body some will work well while others just end up decorating the toilet bowl. it might be a case of you needing to try a few until you find one that works. taking with food is something i recommend too (even in a dry cracker...so hard with ms).

If it's any consolation when i was pg with DD and totally not aware of all the pregnancy multis i took the straight folate for the first 10 weeks...i am sure that it will be fine for you to take this and just wait out the ms.

Yeah, just the folic acid. I've never had to take other supplements.

I always had trouble taking the "blackmores" brand of multi-vitamins. Not sure why. Same as you: didn't matter what I took them with or if I'd eaten or not.

I have had terrible morning sickness that has only just started to ease up in the last few days. I only took folate for the first couple of months because the multivitamin would just end up in the toilet. I have just started taking the multivitamin again this week and it's not causing nausea so i assume i'm almost past my MS stage.

I was going to suggest trying a different brand. Hopefully you'll begin to feel better soon.

Thanks so much for all your replies. I guess I'll just stick to the plain Folic acid for now until my tummy settles.
