Not having a u/s til 12 wks... very impatient!!

    Hi guys,

I'm 7 1/2 weeks pregnant and I'm not having my first u/s til week 12, but i'm really worried to know that everything is going ok. I see that heaps of other women out there have earlier ultrasounds, and im wondering whether I should go for an earlier one or stick it out till 12 weeks....

    any advice??

That wait is a killer, I know. I think your doc will only send you if you suspect something is wrong, eg bleeding or if you arent 100% on your dates. You could give it a go. However time will fly, I'm sure you will be fine.

    Bummer!
Try not to think about it, easier said than done I know! From what I understand you would have to pay for an earlier US. I am too cheap to pay so I just put up with the waiting (mind you I don't have us until 18 - 20 weeks!)
I'm sure everthing is going fine, try not to stress yourself out about it!

Hi Catherinemoses..........How come you don't need to pay for one after 12 weeks?. I thought you had to pay regardless? (I am having my 12 week one in a week).....

As far as I know the morphology scan at 18-20 weeks is a 'compulsory' (not really, but they like everyone to have it I think) scan and is therefore goes thru Medicare. The other scans, dating scans and the NC one at 12 weeks are optional and while you get some money back from Medicare there is an out of pocket charge.
I have never had to pay for an US but have only ever had the 20 week one

it depends on where you have your scans as to if you pay for it
