    Pavlova

I cooked a pavlova today for dessert tonight. It has been cooked in a very slow oven for 1.5 hours. Is this safe to eat?

Hm, I think so as it is cooked. We only have to keep meat products at 75C or above at work to be in the safe zone (for all those non preggy ppl,) so I would say it should be ok. I am confused as i dont know if it is the white or yolk we need to be more worried about?

Hi Sazza, yes I have no idea. It's cooking in 100 degree heat, will be crispy on outside and soft in the middle. I'm just unsure. I hope I can eat it. I made it especially for DP when he gets home from work! OH and me too of course! LOL

    Post Eggs

Hi guys. I am just going into my 2nd month! I found a fab book called "What to expect when you are expecting". I cant recommend it enough. Has a lot of food, excercise, tips. And it has lots of those funny little questions that go thru your head and answers to them too. It says about eggs - you can eat them but only when cooked. So when you were making the Pav, you shouldnt really lick the bowl/fingers, etc. as it is uncooked. But once cooked you are ok. except you shouldnt have high sugar intake due to issues with health/teeth/diabetes/nutrition/etc. but of course if it is just a dessert now and then that is fine...

Thanks Charlie, I went onto the Essential Baby website and they said that you can have pavlova as it's cooked, it's only raw you have to be careful with. Oops though, I licked my finger once when I was making it!!

I wouldnt worry, I'm sure a million cooks and mums who cook cakes, etc. have done this before and no problems! Good luck.

Thanks everyone for easing my mind regarding the pavlova query! It was very yummy and I am now assured, it's cooked so okay!
