Will bending affect pregnancy in first trimester?

I know some of you may think I'm crazy... My grandmother has been giving me lectures that I should not bend down or over especially now that I'm pregnant and in my first trimester. She said that I could end up in a miscarriage if I bend down or over. I'm really concerned about this whole thing though I have bent down when I was pregnant with DD1... However, she insisted that I listen to her... what do you think of that?

Bending is fine hun. Geez if I didn't bend over when I was pregnant nothing would have gotten done.

Same as reaching up. It's fine to put your arms up to hang out the washing.

These are just old wives tales from nana's era hun

My grandmother made a big fuss about it so it gave me second thoughts... Then again, I guess I could just be petrified about everything that I do if bending is a problem! Thanks Trish.. I think I just needed to hear from other people aside from my own!

I agree with Trish. If we couldn't do any bending or reaching up, no housework or anything else would get done.

Just smile and nod, but don't take it too seriously! Listen to your body if it hurts then don't do it, if you feel fine then don't stress. She obviously means well but its not what you need to hear.

I second the others darl. I think this advice reflects how much your grandmother cares about you and your unborn child. Personally I have found twisting quickly (like rolling up and out of bed in a hurry) causes some pain and discomfort but bending has been cool. If something hurts I just slow up and maybe try to remember not to bend in front of your grandmother if you can!!

Thanks ladies. I will take up on your advices... listen to my body and smile in front of grandmother when she says something out of caring even though it's not a fact. It's funny how grandmother insists me on not bending but in her times, she was doing laundry bending down and etc. I guess grandmother just want the best for me and bubba.
