This is my first post here and I'm hoping you can help me I feel like I'm going crazy!
I had an ectopic pregnancy in 2009 where my tube ruptured and my right tube was removed I was to scared to try for a whole after and June this year we were finally ready again!
Last Friday 8th November I found out I was pregnant 3 days before my period was due (surely this is a good sign my hormone levels are high??) I went to the drs Monday and they confirmed I was pregnant and they have referred me to have an early scan - i am now 5 weeks pregnant feel like period is on its way, twinges on both left and right side, mild crampy twinges on my left side and yesterday felt like I had trapped wind, today I am constipated (sorry tmi)
Last time I had an ectopic I didn't know I was pregnant until I was took into hospital in severe pain so not 100% what it feels like right at the beginning?
I know what I'm feeling may be completely normal but im so scared drs aren't doing blood work like I see other people having I called early pregnancy unit today and they said to call dr Monday and tell them to refer me ASAP for a scan at 6 weeks because they haven't rcvd the fax which drs sent them last week for my early scan! Or I can go in this week for blood work if my dr refers me.
Sorry for waffling on I'm just so scared I do have other symptoms like nausea and boobs are extremely sensitive and hurt
Congratulations and good luck for a safe and happy pregnancy and birth journey. Those period type twinges and cramps are totally common in pregnancy. I've had them in all of my pregnancies.
I've had two ectopics now (with a miscarriage and a healthy baby in between) and I'm now pregnant again (14dpo today) so can totally sympathise with the fear.
TBH the serial hcgs are not all that useful. An early scan (5-6weeks) is the best although having a current hcg level at the time of the scan is also useful (if they can't see anything they need to know what your level is)
For me, gas pain and cramping us a very normal early pregnancy symptom. In fact, when my previous ectopic ruptured I felt a little silly going to the ED, I was sure they were just going to say it was bad gas!! But the nurse reassured me that it's way better to be safe than sorry. So if it's sharp gas pain that doesn't turn into gas it's worth getting checked.
It's an awful 2 weeks for me between bfp at 9-12dpo and scan at 5-5.5
weeks.
My GP said to wait till 6 weeks for my scan but since my last ectopic ruptured at 5.5 weeks I'm not taking that chance! I think I'll go at 5+2.
All the best, I hope this is one is safe and sound and sticky!!
