Sharp pain in lower abdomen when I stand up quickly

    hi there

has anyone experienced sudden sharp pains in the lower abdominal region (i guess where the uterus is!) when they stand up quickly or move/roll quickly? I am 7 weeks pregnant with my 2nd bubs and I have noticed in the last few weeks, every now and then when i stand up or move quickly, i get a sudden sharp pain in my lower belly - it's gone as soon as it arrives, but it makes me double over. i'm a bit scared, although i think i remember this happening with my 1st pregnancy but that was a while ago.... is it normal? or should i be worried? the pain seems to be in different spots although lately its been the same side/spot. help!

    Hi Leanne
Please go and have it checked out...I had an ectopic at 8 weeks with no symptoms which ruptured and I nearly died...sorry to scare you but since then I don't care what the Dr thinks...if something's worrying me I get it checked!

I know exactly what you mean Leanne. I still get that feeling now and then but going away slowly. In the same boat as you early weeks. I have been reassured all is well and its just everything expanding inside making room etc.

It's kinda like a stitch feeling, or like a pulled muscle....I was freaking out I was picking up my two too much and causing problems. Don't remember having that feeling with my other two pregnancies though.
Everyone seems to get these pains early in the piece and then they disappear of what I have been told.

Congratulations with your pregnancy and all the best for a Happy and Healthy one.

    hey

I am 9 weeks and I too had them at 7-8 weeks..... I think its all streatching. If its just the one spot go check it out, but if its in random places its just stretching.

good luck and congratulations on the pregnancy.

I had a similar type pain early on - although it came and went quickly it had me doubled over in pain, it was quite scary. I haven't had the pain for a few weeks now and my Ob found nothing in my scans to show that there was anything wrong and said its probably just all my insides moving into place to make way for bubs....

    Hi Leanne

I'm 16 weeks and I had it too (still do sometimes) from about 7 weeks. It is called round ligament pain and is completely normal.

yep, round ligament pain starts early in pgcy and continues untill very late. It's a reminder to take things a bit slower and it's just the ligaments that hold the uterus in place stretching. The pain often runs down into the groin area and if you stop moving for a few seconds, it goes away.......Just stop what you are doing when you get the pain, count to five and SLOWLY stretch back up again. It should have eased up. It is completely normal. Just think, your uterus is growing from the size of a small lemon to the size of a watermelon (or bigger!). The ligaments stopiing it from collapsing down towards your bowels have to stretch, the ones stopping it bouncing upwards have to stretch, the actual muscles of the uterus have to stretch....there is an awful lot of stretching and growing going on and it's not always comfortable. Try to take it easy, listen to your body and rest/stop when it tells you to! Your body is designed to do this and it knows what it can and can't handle. It uses these little pains etc to speak to you. When you stand up quickly, it hurts because it's telling you to take it a little slower. I'm not trying to sound grumpy so sorry if I come across that way....just advising you to listen to it and slow down when it tells you to. I hope the rest of ur pgcy is marvellous and trouble free honey!

I've been getting that too (almost 6 weeks pregnant).

I went to emergency, had blood tests and ultrasound and more blood tests to check hGC levels and make sure that the baby is in the uterus. The pains have gone now and it was probably just my uterus growing. They told me to come back if I start bleeding (which I haven't) or if the pain gets unbearable (which it hasn't). I think it was just normal. But even if it is nothing, if you are concerned, go and get it checked out just to put your mind at ease. It's better to be safe than sorry.
