    Strange Question

    Hi guys,

Did anyone get strange pains in their groin area during their first trimester? I'm 11 weeks and am still worrying about every little pain. I'm guessing it's probably normal and is just the muscles but it's nice to be reassured

That's what I thought, but I guess when it's the first you get a little worried.

I'm also having a pain every now and then that's more in the middle, like up into my vaginal area.

    hiya tara,
as kitt3n said, very normal, is a hormone (relaxin, i think??) making all your joints looser in your groin and pelvis.
    congrats on your pregnancy!!

Can be round ligament pain also. Which is just a fancy word for stretching. Get used to it mate, you wont believe how much your body can stretch to accommodate your little angle.

    Groin Pain

Yes I encountered a lot of groin pain during my whole pregnancy. I went to see a physiotherapist who specialized in "women in pregnancy" and she gave me some excercises to do. But I found the most relief from one of those body pillows. I placed my leg over it in bed with aligned my hips. Also I recall her saying the pain was due to the joints in the pelvic area loosening up etc. Hope you get some relief

I quizzed my midwife about some odd groin pain that kinda ran from my groin down into my upper thighs, she told me that there are two large nerves that run down both legs from the groin to the thigh, and as the muscles loosen up due to the increase in hormones and the body's preparation of carrying a baby, I could look forward to more 'shooting' type pains occurring in this area. She added that it is completely normal, and very common during pregnancy.

i'm about 5-6 weeks along with my first and i know where your coming from!! i've been getting period-like cramps for about three weeks now and i've been a nervous wreck. last night i ended up curled up in the foetal position on my bed almost in tears cause of the pain and because i was so scared.
i spoke to the doctor about it this arvo and she said, not to worry, it's just your body stretching and loosening up for the growth of your bub.
i know the pains are scary but just curl up until it's comfy and just wait it out, thats all i can say to do.
