Question Fetal heart beat by doppler - how many weeks?

Just wondering how many weeks you were when you heard your baby's heart beat via doppler in the doctor's office? I think I've always heard mine at 10 weeks. I'm just about 9 weeks now, and we tried today to pick up a heart beat, but nothing yet. Plenty of placenta/uterus noise, but no baby sounds yet. The midwife assured me repeatedly that this was completely normal, and not to worry, but she also said several times that I should have an ultrasound soon "to confirm my dates." That was less than reassuring.

About 11 weeks with DS2. Later with DS1, but I had an anterior placenta.

    Thanks so much LionsandBears!
Sitting at home by myself this evening, and worrying a bit.

I've been so blessed with healthy pregnancies, and I know so many mums have struggled. Your signature reminded me again.... I will try to never ever take this for granted!

That's similar to me. I was doing it myself and heard DS at 10 1/2 weeks, DD at 9.5 weeks, and this bub at 11 weeks. Both DD and this bub have anterior placenta's, but it seems they don't get in the way of finding the heartbeat luckily.

my IM wouldnt use it before 14 weeks as she found that there was too a big a chance of missing the heartbeat and causing undue stress.
