Unhappy Lady Parts

Wow, this is awkward. I guess that's the best thing about an online community, everything is pretty anonymous.

I've got a GP appointment for Thursday morning (that's the earliest I could get in), but thought I'd ask for your opinion also.

I'm feeling super uncomfortable downstairs and have for a while. I have days where I feel like I'm burning down there. It's slightly uncomfortable to wee. Almost like I'm on the verge of a UTI. It's really bring me down.

I'm 10 weeks pregnant.

Any ideas?

Could also be thrush which is very common in pregnancy - and can feel like a UTI sometimes too.

I also think it may be thrush, not sure if over the counter stuff is ok during pregnancy?

If you do decide to get the thrush cream to see if that helps its ok to use just don't insert it as high as it can go

my ob, gp and two pharmacists have said its ok while pg and unfortunately for me I've had it twice so far this preg so I'm very familiar with the thrush cream lol

It does sound like thrush - I would give the thrush cream a go!

Thanks ladies. Kelly, do you know if you can get fast tract from a pharmacy, or is it only health food stores?

Anyone taken inner health plus? Is it okay during pregnancy? Is it as good as fast tract?

Kitty, I might wait til Thursday when I see the GP. Make sure it is thrush, before I go the cream. I feel so sooty for you, having it twice already

One more thing, I'm not itchy? Can you get thrush without having that symptom?

Don't take anything orally! Only use the external cream and don't use it too far up as the others have said.

I just had a yakult (haha, hoping for a miracle over here, but thinking a single yakult might be stretching it).

Should I wait to see the GP before using a cream? I've never actually had thrush, is it just canestan?

I wouldnt bother with Yakult. Sugar content (thrush loves sugar), only one strain of probiotic and there are much better out there. Reduce your sugar and processed wheat (cake, biscuits, white breads) intake wherever you can.

I've had thrush on and off for my whole pregnancy. My dr prescribed nilstat cream, and I just rub a bit on instead on inserting it. Applying yoghurt 'down there' is also a good natural treatment that he suggested.

Rather than bandaid fix with creams I strongly recommend looking at diet and water intake. Coconut oil is a great antifungal too.

I agree with Kelly. I have already had thrush this pregnancy and it was burning and itchy. I did use a cream but I also looked at my diet which was high in sugars. Once i cut them down, things fixed up pretty quickly

The only way I kicked recurring thrush in my last pregnancy was to go sugar and yeast free for 10 days, then tried not to get back on to lots of sugar after that. I also took a good pro-biotic, Inner Health Plus didn't work. I got a liquid fermented type one first up then a capsule version called Orthoplex from my chiro. I flooded my system with the pro-biotics for two weeks, then went to normal dose after that. It went and never came back

I did use a topical cream, I think Nilstat just to soothe the area for a couple of days as it had gotten so bad I found it hard to walk

If you can sleep with no undies and get as much air as you can. Good luck it can be horrible.

I think the inner health is fine (check with the chemist though) but don't take any oral thrush treatments.

As with the others, look at what you are eating (although I know I just craved white bread when I was pregnant so it was hard to cut it out)

Can I point out, it's not actually itchy, at all. Just hot, uncomfortable, and like I'm on the verge of a uti.

Can you get thrush without having the itch?
